      I've never heard of this before. Google informs me Ford call it Twin Traction Beam. You learn something everyday. Most of it useless...

            Yep, Ford F series has run the twin traction beam since the 1960s, on 2wds, and still do on the current F250/F350 superduty 2wds. Ford went to normal IFS on the F150 in 1995. The 4wds went TTB in 1980, coils on the F100/150/250 and leaf on the F350. F350 went back to solid front axle in 1986. TTB is essentially a swing axle, funnily enough it's a relatively popular swap INTO pretunners.
