Lamborghini Gallardo - Sweet Dream or a Beautiful Nightmare

Always loved these things specially after taking one for a belt couple years back. From what I've gathered after speaking to a few people budget for ware and tare items including a clutch?. Been told to stay away from e gear in the early models?. I would be interested in some opinions from people who actually have had experience or know someone with an early model

Solid cars really. You know to stay away from E Gear.
Front diff will only do about 20 big launche, but I doubt that would worry most people.

    If importing, beware corrosion!

Manuals seem to be as common on early models?.

Bloke I bought my Gemballa off had a manual in blue with Tubi exhaust. He picked me up from the airport in it and thrashed it all the way home. The sound was fucking glorious. It's for sale right now for $150k IIRC. Aust delivery with bugger all klms. Very much a bucket list car for me. I rate the shape over it's big brother.

          This is it.

I know nothing of these cars except that you'll drown in high quality snatch forever if you own one of these. Buy buy buy.

I met a guy at cars and coffee with an LP570, he did all his own work, it had a miss recently which turned out to be fuel delivery, parts were reasonable and it was just 2 filters.

he's 'updating it' taillights were $1000 each, as was the grille between the taillights :|

My budget would most likely only buy me an import which is bit if a worry. As far body and paint go that's my department just worried about buying a mechanical lemon. But from all the reports Ive seen they seem to be lots different to the Lambo's of old .

Parts prices don't seem to be that out of control if your willing to source yourself from over seas.

The earlier versions were 5.0 L and not direct injection I think. Which is a win. I've not owned one, but one of the lads over here has just twin turboed (Heffener) his and only then has his clutch started to slip when we were were doing back-back runs over the targa west course with little cool down time. Even with twins it sounded amazing, and without turbos pure porn! So I'd say the clutches are good! The Graziano gearboxes are tough as and take bulk power, so should be fine also with standard donk. Donk is a good tough thing I understand. Car has Audi in it everywhere, so chances are high the electrics will work. Would own a 2WD Balboni edition in a heartbeat if I could sell my car and pony up another 50k or so!

Buy, buy now! That blue one, mmmm. Pull front driveshafts and diff, save weight and man up!

Demonstrated to be slower than a 1989 beige Volvo 240 wagon with $5k spent on it.

                        For shame. Move on.

Lol, yes of course. No time for that though, I'm off to chop some firewood with a huge axe, shave with a broken beer bottle and wrestle a bear.

A close mate had a manual, black 06 mdl. You can disable the exhaust valve for about $20 or so. Sounds porn with the flap open as it is virtually straight through. Clutch was spastic money like 5-6k. And it needed to be changed every 15,000 from what the lambo steelership told him. Weapon of a car and really flexible to use as a daily. Is up there in my top 5 must have cars. He bought an F360 vert with a tubi exhaust after he sold the lambo. Nowhere near as quick or exciting as the lambo and I didnt reckon the fezza sounded as good.

So similar to modifying a Harley with HD parts???

Don't know if true, but heard on the radio a guy selling his unit after his short term free loading gf decided to go on an extensive overseas holiday because "it was her money to do as she pleases". He bought a Diablo VT cheap with his unit money, drove it for a year than sold on for 80k more clear after total costs of ownership. The Diablo is probably more a hero car than the Gallardo, and it was whilst the Gallardo was being sold.
