    best spunge for washing car?

what's the best spunge for washing the car as black cars force you to wash the car more often than one would like

im after a good quality big spunge that doesnt fall apart after a few uses.

while i'm on the topic, what other products are good
eg. shamies, carwash, polish, methods etc

LOL - seriously your best to get the softest sponge you can which is sometime hard because they are usually wrapped in plastic. Meguires has just released two new hand mit sponge type of things. One is wool and one is microfibre. They are supposed tro be good.

Just make sure you dont use the soem sponge on your paint and your wheels and make sure you wash the sponge out all the time to get the dirt and shit out.

Black cars suck to keep clean.

On the other things, I'd recommend drying your car with a 100% cotton bath towel. It's a bit tedious, but a chamis will scratch your car no matter what one you get and also takes off the polich that you put on. You will still need it for some areas and touch ups.

I use the Meguiars lambswool mit and it works a treat - it holds a helluva lot more water/wash solution than a sponge can and cleans more easily

Cant say I've ever scratched my car with a chamois (not even swirls) - I do use three though, one for windows, one for paintwork to just below the door strip level and the last for the bottom of the panels.

Boxer - you sound as picky as me. So you've been happy with the wash mit? Was thinking about getting one.

I know what you mean about the chamis it's only something, I've changed too now. You know that sticking gripping feel you sometimes get that's the polish being pulled off by teh chamis. Once again it depend how fanatical you are I suppose. With a black car that gets showed I try to do anything to make the job easier and makes me have to wax and polish the car less. lol

I've been using the Meguiars sponge and am happy with it. Remember it's the product that does the work, you shouldn't be scrubbing hard as the product should be lifting the grime off.

                  Their chamois are especially good.

One thing I won't use is Meguiar's terry towels, I actually buy big packs of terry towel dipers from Best and Less or Target, wherver you can get them. The pile is nice and thick and they're a good size. They're also considerabley cheaper, but that's not the reason I use them. Besides that I use Meguiars everything on my car.

GTI124 - agree totaly on the nappy's the only way to go (try and buy Australian made as there's mpre chance they are 100% cotton-i know what they all say on the packaging lol) and also on the products you use, but you do need good applicators. I also suggest using the little round Meguiars foam sponges for putting your poilsh on with.

For the best in getting it off, I totally recommend Meguiars new Microfibre cloths. Not cheap but 100% better than the nappy's, even they suggest to only use these now instead of 100% cotton towels.

Bye the way I do use a Meguiars soft buff chamis, it' s the best I've found, dont waste money on those stupid leather ones.

That is soo anal, but I can totally see the point; and it's a good bloody idea! I love it.

How much are the you-beaut Meguiars microfibre cloths?

I'm not that bad only have 2 chamis lol, one for wheels one for paint and have a sepreate wheel and paint sponge.

The Microfibre cloths are around $15 each, but will last a very long time can be washed etc. To tell you the truth I haven't seen them in the shops yet. I got one direct from meguiars and one from the Meguiars stand at the MotorEx show. Might be worth giving them a call direct and see what they can do.

I dry it with a Meguiars Chamois and have never had a problem with scratching..

As for sponges, I never use a sponge on my car....I use high pressure water to blast off all the dirt and grime, and its always worked sweet ...no scratching, paint chipping or anything like that

problem with pressure washing is it blows your polish off too. I'm talking about black cars too that show every mark. Like I said it all depends on how fanatical your are hey.

Ahh, okay, I thought they might be heeeaps of cash (you know, like $100) for some silly reason. I'll worry not then!

Where's the best place to get Meguiar's stuff.. Marlows and the like? I'm in WA.. BALISTC?
