the lighter the car you go, the easier it is.
600hp@motor in a 1-ton car can run an 8.
A cressida you can get down light, think 1JZ747 was like 2700lbs.
i think people are forgeting the most important thing, car must remain street legal. You can build a cheap quick racecar, fuck pretty sure the brothers 2JZ KE70 wasnt much more than $20-$25k first time around, built bottom end stock head, he did all work himself, $2k box. though car was bought as roller for a few k, that was back in 2003 went an 8.8 or something.

Since a cage suitable for a 8 will not pass rego, let's just stick to Ncop requirements for a engine conversion.Originally posted by prasac View Postthe lighter the car you go, the easier it is.

Dropping the exhaust and bolting slicks on at the track etc is allowed.
How many 8 second cars would be streetable in the daily grind, not many let alone a budget buildyou cant spell advertisements without semen between the tits

Wouldn't a r33 with stock top block mated to a rb30 bottom end be a good cheap start for a motor, bolt on a big turbo $2.5k and of course not an auto form as that's going to eat money and use the 5 speed box since they're pretty tough. Light car, pretty cheap and stock form somewhat strong gearbags and internals/diff. The rest of the money could go into shit like fuel line, injectors, oil feeds, huge radiator ect?

Yet the ncop rules clearly state an sr20 is outside of the capacity to weight rules.Originally posted by SR20 KE30 View Postsr20 ke20 has been engineered and regoed thousands of times under the old rules, the new ncop multiplications are the same and better under 1100 kg.
Not saying it can't be done, but id be checking with an engineer BEFORE I started on that one

You can debate the weight of a ke20 all day long if you like. and yes, common sense is ...common.Originally posted by Bueller View PostYet the ncop rules clearly state an sr20 is outside of the capacity to weight rules.

Ok, forget sr20+ke20.
Ka24+ke30 2 door sedan.
mick macgregor runs a 9.4 on a slap together ka24 + 30psi in a datto 1600. The leaf spring car in theory removes the need for 4 link tubs and all that engineering.meh

Can go 8.00 on a bolt in cage these days. Suddenly it becomes legal to have a cage for an 8 second street car....Originally posted by Tripper View PostSince a cage suitable for a 8 will not pass rego, let's just stick to Ncop requirements for a engine conversion.
