LCT is a couple $k more than that but concept applies. LCT threshold is applied to cost + GST + import costs. Then you take GST off the difference to work out the 33% LCT

Fuck! There are so many potential older classics that might be able to be brought in now.
W124 v8 anyone?
I guess it all depends how cheaply you can get them overseas. And most 'classics' typically appreciate in value earlier and by a greater amount in UK/Europe markets than here right?Originally posted by XXX19XShitbreak is the epitome of perfection.

Does NSW still have issues with LHD?Originally posted by Shitbreak View PostI guess it all depends how cheaply you can get them overseas. And most 'classics' typically appreciate in value earlier and by a greater amount in UK/Europe markets than here right?
Hmm, the nopix might bring in her grandmother's 1974 GDM XJ12 ... (her grandmother obviously wasn't one to follow the crowd
).
If that's correct, then I can see a few Japanese top-end cars being cheaper.Originally posted by Shonky View Post"Includes tax" which might be reclaimed. There's two prices there

Probably Landbruisers, Lexuses, the upcoming NSX too.
We still get most stuff cheaper, but there are anomalies. It seems generally stuff above ~$150k here is cheaper there. The calcs on a C63 don't pan, out but I think an E63 might.Originally posted by The Kingalso when shopping in UK remember to remove the 20% VATSoft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Yeah that is part of the issue. I think you'd be limited to RHD stuff from mainly the UK or Japan (unless you could be arsed driving a LHD car here even if its legal).Originally posted by Forg View PostSorry, I meant the Europe bit.
Also, the trouble is finding that niche market where prices overseas are reasonable.
For instance, I'm looking up 190e 2.6's and they go for sale in the UK (it appears) at a price greater than they sell for here (on the rare occasion they come up for sale here). Same applies for W124 500's. Although a W124 400 might be the ticket.Originally posted by XXX19XShitbreak is the epitome of perfection.

It'll probably mean some euro makers will re-evaluate their RHD model options.
Renault could build a RHD Talisman simply because the three large RHD markets (UK, AU, JP) would all finally be able to take a single regulatory specification.
The next step is for the local importers/dealers to offer customers a UK/JP car acting as the "agent" OR a locally delivered car.---
