Put E85 inOriginally posted by Smudge View PostSo when the first Subarau 4-dr Sti's were imported by Subaru Australia and were having engine problems because of a poor tune (poor Aus petrol at the time?) you could whinge to Subaru Aus. What would happen if that situation occurred in 2018 with a private import?

You mean we'll be allowed to bring in small, little, Japanese turbo cars!Originally posted by Mr Purple View PostBut balance it with something sensible for the daily commute, like a Suzuki Alto Turbo RS. For $14k AUD, I'll buy a fresh one every year, turn up the boost, and leave it as a smoking wreck on the side of the highway when it explodes.

I have a secret love of small turbo Japanese stuff, Charade and Honda City for example. If they keep the fun to drive and grin a minute mentality, for not much coin I'm very interested.

It won't, firstly because manufacturers wouldn't release a mass-produced car that couldn't at least run on ~98 octane fuel, secondly because even if they did, engine management is advanced enough now that it can deal with it without making the car undrivable.Originally posted by Smudge View PostSo when the first Subarau 4-dr Sti's were imported by Subaru Australia and were having engine problems because of a poor tune (poor Aus petrol at the time?) you could whinge to Subaru Aus. Im pretty sure you can't just bring in any car that is registerable in the UK, they have some pretty loose regs. There will likely be some eu standards or even some basic NCOP rules that the car will have to comply to to be able to come in. And the SR3 SL is the only one that will have a chance of coming in.Originally posted by Sloth View Postthis signature intentionally left blank

Gotta say ... I might have to be too ...Originally posted by bigshipengine.jpg View PostIll also jump on the Alto Group buy.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

It doesn't happen 'til 2018 so it might still not happen; and the details I've seen don't say they definitely will allow ANYTHING sold new JDM & UKDM, they could easily add exceptions if it looks like someone might have too much fun & possibly cause damage to their smile muscles.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Also I believe that kei-cars are either exempted from crash standards in Japan, or they have a watered-down set of requirements.Originally posted by Forg View PostIt doesn't happen 'til 2018 so it might still not happen; and the details I've seen don't say they definitely will allow ANYTHING sold new JDM & UKDM, they could easily add exceptions if it looks like someone might have too much fun & possibly cause damage to their smile muscles.
Which probably means that they won't be eligible.Japanese Nostalgic Car - Dedicated to classic japanese cars
