US cars of this era are a dash out job. Thats why people by pass them. It's labor intensive rather than hard.

Remove the carpert in the passenger foot well and check foir white marks on the floor pan metal.
Just run nice fresh water through it from a tap and see if the interior fills up or not. I'm guessing rooted core.

      This normal?
I can get another alternator for around $200-250 from Rockauto but not sure how long it will take to get here. Unless AutoSuperstore has one cheap they can get here fast.

      Also check the pulley.

Most euro things use a one-way overrun pulley. So it spins one way freely, but not the other.

Change the regulator. It’s faulty and sending too many amps which is why things got hot.

Regulator looks like it is on the back of the alternator, I reckon you are on the money, these things run in 3 phase AC and convert to DC, think a diode has died for one of the phases.
Part# stamped on the Valeo regulator is 2542604 if anyone knows where to get one from locally without waiting weeks.

Pulley spins freely in either direction.

I would almost guarantee that the core is leaky and the reason for them to have been disconnected.

How hard is the core to remove?

Picked up a replacement refurb alternator with 6 months warranty from a wrecker, apparently the windings were stuffed too due to the overheating. All running well now! Thanks everyone for their help

Is there a way to search through sold/completed listings on Graysonline? I found a car in the background of one of their listings, and would be keen to know if it's sold already.

What's a reasonable price expectation for jap wheels these days? Have this set of 17x9" Blitz rims in +22 offset - good for FD or R32 GT-R. They're not in mint condition. Some rash and the brake dust has had a go at the clear coat. They've been sitting around doing nothing since I sold my track car years ago.

Its hard to say, but given theyre mad tyte JDM 90's bling, I think that there will be somebody out there who is willing to pay over the odds for them, if thats the wheel they lust after.

List them high on one of those Facebook JDM wheels pages, and see what the market says...you may be surprised

Triple what you could pick them up for 15 years ago.

Jap wheel market has gone spastic.

Yes. But isn’t that the case for all rotary owners?

I regularly pick up sold cars from various Grays online Auctions and can can say they are the only auction house i would never consider buying a car from.
They have the most consistent selection of trash ive ever seen and ive beenn doing it for 10 years now.
Think of the worst wholesale cars you would see out the back of a dealer and they would only sell the worst of it there.

I’ve got a 2012 Volvo S60/V60 T6 which has some sort of engine mount rattle. Have already replaced the top torque mount between engine and body but it is still there. It is there are low revs but if you give it WOT it goes away but comes back hard when you lift off.

Pulled two of the bottom engine/torque mounts off yesterday and they don’t look in great shape so going to replace those.

My question is a lot of the mounts have slotted holes where they mount to the engine. Is there a procedure where you preload the engine with some torque using a jack or similar before tightening them up so they are already under some load in the ‘neutral’ position?

Every time I've done the pre-load thing it never works. The engines always settle where they want to be.

My tips are to do the bolt up super tight or if you have access drill the hole out to accept the biggest bolt you can or just use biggest bolt possible.

                                Also check trans mount
