Welding?? Welding takes time. Some good quality cable ties will sort this.

Maybe a couple of garden stakes for a little extra strength if you think it's required.

Plywood, Araldite and chassis black is a traditional Holden chassis fix. Make sure you use marine ply in Melbourne though due to the rainy weather.
