Well slides evo 9s are pretty much unbeatable in what I do ultra reliable and affordable to run
the evo does most of the work but at least I sit in it while it does its magic. For what its worth
I can see massive amounts of a affordable package with the RS and can continue on in a effective
way. I would prefer a A45 but cost of running one would worry me.
Yahoes I see your point but its performance figures don't lie. Reliability being ford is a another worry thou.

Mine is trundling past Portugal on a boat at present. In times like these I wish ROROs did 40 knots.

Should be here in time for September Cars & Coffee with any luck.

I'm not regarding me I'm saying in general evos are damn fast. Just refer to natsoft
and look at trackdays and supersprints facts don't lie. I should add this means a car
that you drive to and from the track and around town with very little mods.
But I wouldn't expect anybody on here to see if I'm right or wrong because I'm not
politically correct or suck up each others asses and really don't give a 2 fucks.
PS if I was lightyear I maybe could possible maybe put in a few things but like I care.

Turdsurfer, have you done a thread about your Evo? Sounds like exactly what I am looking for. I only do two or three driving events a year. Having a seperate full on track car doesn't make sense.

Turbosurfer, no one in this thread gives a fuck about evos.

I don't think the average Focus RS buyer would give a toss about the Evo 9. Not saying Evos aren't great cars, which they are, but chances are if a Focus RS buyer had any interest in an Evo 9, they would have owned one in the past. I figure the average RS buyer will be looking at things like the Golf R, Audi S3 and Mercedes A45 AMG, not a used/abused Evo. Blind Freddie can see they're 2 totally different approaches.
Just remembered I saw a comment from one of the directors of PSA saying they would like to release a rival to the Focus RS using their WRC/WTC knowledge. If it goes ahead it will be either an epic car or an epic failure.

irsa76 I really don't understand your comment. I have been driving my evo for 8yrs on road and track
now I'm looking for a better FASTER mouse trap being RS or as stated A45 but bit worried about them $$$
so why would you say us evo drivers wouldn't be the type to look at these other cars. Are you just a full
on snob wanna be or have you stereo typed all jap crap drivers? I'm really a surfer (Cronulla) not a lebbo
Cliffordcliffs with a evo all you need is exhaust, remap up the boost about 2lb using just a bleed valve MR Bov
rear swaybar maybe coilovers and R-spec tyres and change all oils a lot, engine and filter every trackday, supersprint
gearbox , diffs etc after every 3 trackdays a proper wheel aliment. 3 degrees front 1 back.

I must have misread your post as meaning why would someone go for the RS rather than an Evo 9, my mistake. I'm pretty sure the RS would show a standard Evo around a track, it would want to given the advances in technology. Long term track use? No one will know until some one does it. But I'd guess it'll be a year or so before bits appear that really improve the track performance of the RS.

I reckon the RS's will be reliable.. cant see why not, its not on a knife edge

I saw some Yanky testing one on youtube and he was sliding it in drift mode for a heap of laps, and when the car detected that the rear diff was too hot, it just went into FWD mode until it was ready to slide again

That suggests theyre ontop of what to do when owners belt them around.. anything else on the market that does shit like that?

Ford is seriously on point with consumers and enthusiasts for this generation. The shit they're building right now is fucking good. Just have a look at the top end range up to and including the 2016 GT that just won Lemans.

If you have a squizz at older stuff though, there've been interesting performancey stuff in the past; we've just been 'protected' from all that because they wanted to push sales into the local operation ... ?

eg. Europe gets Cosworth RS500, USA got the same chassis and a not-as-bad-as-maybe-it-should-have-been Merkur; we get XF S-Pack with EEC4.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
