67 is getting to be properly quick, its supercar quick and faster than plenty of club level race cars.Originally posted by turbosurfer View PostI dont know lap times over there but you sound impressed with yours. Im so over my evo and
want to replace it but it must be something with faster laptimes maybe this will be the ticket after all.

As if a dak dak would anywhere near the awesomeness of an Evo. Only a P1 on the special sticky tyres they use will do or maybe a P1 LM.Originally posted by Greg Rust View PostHave you looked at any Porsches? I'd personally recommend the GT3 RS or the 918 Spyder. A fitting car for your upper echelon level of driving. The RS will leave you feeling disappointed and people will laugh at you.

And considering a full weight xr6T with fuel and driver ain't going to see change from 2T it bloody amazing laptime. 2 secs off a 911 Turbo driven by a pro driver.Originally posted by papahet View Post67 is getting to be properly quick, its supercar quick and faster than plenty of club level race cars.

Have considered a cayman S but with only 2 seats no where to put rims with R specs or anything else for that matter.
Love the shape thou and I think its a tad selfish and self indulgent.
Also considered a merc A45 but worried about cost of upkeep and reliability with track work.
GT3s simply can not afford and self indulgent would be fast no doubt.
Ive tracked my present car for almost 10 years and just bored with it so if the RS is as quick as you guys are
saying its the only logical choice but I will admit im concerned with track work about reliability being a ford build product.

Brief update on this after 5 months & 7500km.
Engine has freed up nicely & it's much quicker than it was new. There is some lag below 2/2.5krpm...foot flat you'll get nothing, nothing, nothing then it's like being fired out of a slingshot as boost builds. Feels old school a bit. Mid range is massive...you really don't need to grab lower gears ever in normal traffic, but it still likes to rev if you want.
It sounds great. It's pretty loud for a factory car, the exhaust is rorty and in track mode the pops & burbles are amusing. Every time I go through a tunnel or freeway underpass I can't help myself.
Launch control is brutal.
The fucking thing is utterly hilarious on a mountain run, and covers ground like nothing else I've driven. It turns in incredibly hard (steering is super quick and the pointy front end always keeps up), get on the power hard and it'll rocket you out of the corner without a hint of understeer (get on it hard/early enough and you'll get nice tidy powerslides for the full tarmac rally effect). Brakes are hugely powerful and I haven't got them to fade yet.
Tyres are incredible. They're Pilot Super Sports and with a bit of heat in them they're mindblowing. HOWEVER - they nearly threw me into a gutter on Xmas day when I was trundling along at 40km/h in the rain. I must have hit some standing water while rounding a gentle curve and the front just said "nope" and it went straight on towards a square gutter. Managed to pull it up about 6 inches from impact. Some poo came out. Care needed when cold/wet. The optional Cup 2s must be interesting.
The wheels are shitcunt motherfucker sons of bitches to clean. They no joke take me 30 minutes to clean the fucking brake dust off. Spokey cunts of things. I recently bought some Autoglym Wheel Protector which seals them and put that on which has helped massively, and bought a gerni to blast the fuckers. Take that you fucking wheel cunts.
Seats are fantastic around town, in the twisties and doing long distances. Wife likes them too.
It does every day duties like a champ. It's had massive eskies full of piss, prams, bags of shopping, etc in it and despite what some pussy articles would have you believe, the suspension didn't cause everything to shatter to dust.
Despite the looks it attracts more attention than any other car I've driven. Probably every other time I park it in public I'll spot someone taking photos of it. I usually have the windows down and often have people asking about it, and virtually every time I fill it I'll have the servo bloke asking about it ("is that the one with the drift mode?" "whats drift mode like man" "how's the drift mode?"). Yesterday I was down the coast and went to get a burrito at Broadbeach and these 3 young blokes must have spotted me from miles away because they all had their phones out and were filming me drive past. Then they ran after me to where I was parked and spend a solid 5-10 minutes taking photos from every angle, it was funny/weird. Then there's the random cunts trying to race me every 2km.
Anyway, it's a great car, I'm really enjoying it.

Thanks for the update tremolo. Good to hear it's performing daily duties well.
Random question.. how big is your pram and any pics of it in the back? Baby seat fit alright?
Any interest in the mountune 375 kit? Seems to be covered under FORD warranty still. Did you opt for any extended warranty?
Mine should be here in Feb. Ordered last June. Scheduled build date is the start of this month.

So many similarities to driving my car. Scary loss of direction in the wet when cold ( been there done that, towards a light pole next to a roundabout. There was puckering. ), randoms asking questions, hanging out of their cars on the freeway, photos, racing etc.
I just changed to Endless brake pads. Zero brake dust and they stop like driving into a river. The World's Best Pest Control in Brisbane, at PF mates rates, PM me.
when all else fails, hit it harder.

Thanks for the review Mr Tremolo!
Not much chance I'll ever be in the market for one, but I do enjoy reading other people's measured & considered observations & experiences.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Awesome stuff Stromlo. I deliberated over the standard wheels and came to the same conclusion that they'd be a bitch to clean.
I'm still waiting for confirmation of my delivery date but hoping for March, the XR5 is old news.2017 Ford Ranger XLT (Jeep Wrangler recovery vehicle)

Hey mate, the pram is a pretty slimline one as we were never going to buy a massive car. Baby seat is fine...that thing is a huge britax one that the Ambos use but it's fine. When it was rear facing it ate a lot of front passengerlegroom but it's sweet now. Pics below. I should have got some pics from xmas - had an 85L esky, couple of cartons, wine, champagne, food, portacot, etc in the thing.Originally posted by -Harry- View PostThanks for the update tremolo. Passenger seat is probably 3/4 the way back.

Tyres when warm are somewhat sticky

Mountune isn't covered in Aus yet - only the Focus and Fiesta ST models are. Shouldn't be long though and the 375 will be.
