There is some benefits to manual for sure. But you can easily stick the Jim in 1sr and crawl with the autoOriginally posted by brewdles View PostOld cunts that tell you how much they love manual cars because you don't need to use the brakes, just use the gears to slow you down.
Because you'd rather cause extra wear on a gearbox than cheap and easily replaceable brake parts.Originally posted by BabalouieGeez we're a bunch of softcocks...we have a 911 and we're obsessing over non-functional ducts and indicator colours

I made the mistake of trying to... It was met with a blatant refusal to believe it and a reiteration that I needed a surge tank, and two external fuel pumps. This was from someone that should have known better!Originally posted by turbosurfer View PostI hope you didnt shatter his confidence and tell him evos run around 18psi standard.
Or did he mean tyre pressure.

To be fair, this was common practice back when 4 wheel drum brakes were still common. Brakes don't work very well when they get over heated, using the gears to slow down reduces how much heat you're putting into your brakes.Originally posted by brewdles View PostOld cunts that tell you how much they love manual cars because you don't need to use the brakes, just use the gears to slow you down.

People blankly look at me when I suggest a large box trailer and a $10,000 new unregistered jimny or whatever as a 4wd. Thats straight away the cost of 35's, lift kit and a rear locker. Let alone the other shit.Originally posted by Terribleone View PostMy Jimny was good at upsetting friends in Patrols/Cruisers. Id cop plenty of shit for it and it was far more capable than anyone expected, myself included.
Goes everywhere a 80k landcruiser with 30k of mods goes.
Goes everywhere a 20k landcruiser with 30k of mods goes.
Repeat for everything.
And if the cunt rolls, you climb out and push it upright. Yet somehow people would rather turn their rwd large wagon with a front diff into a '4wd' with big tyres and shit. The amount of cunts who ruin their daily and fucking hate the roll/consumption/noise/bullshit that goes with 35's/lift/lockers/big shocks/etc etc etc and spent more than a new more capable 4wd and trailer astounds me.Originally posted by BosshoggettIf your planing to drive this on the road and enjoy it, id suggest a second opinion, someone with a history in Australian Rally or Fink River . If your just playing dyno comps. Then ok

But the average speed of cars would've been considerably slower back in 4 wheel drum days.Originally posted by irsa76 View PostTo be fair, this was common practice back when 4 wheel drum brakes were still common.
