The most spectacular decline I've seen was in Holden Astras - they were freaking everywhere 15 years ago, very rare now. Maybe the fact that you had to change the timing belt every time you drove around the block contributed.

In terms of the newer cars I think Captivas are already disappearing, or moving to Logan, one of the two. Any of the budget priced Euros tend to disappear pretty early, probably just as a result of maintainence costs. Though for some reason Peugeot 206s seem surprisingly common still.
I know, makes me feel old as I bought one new in 1998 (still smile remembering the 7000rpm clutch dump and front end skid I did ripping out of the dealership just after the bloke said "now take it easy....."

I see Captiva's fucking everywhere (and I live Northside) - they seem to come standard with one brake light/tail light not working. Seriously, every Captiva I see has one fucked rear light.

Isn't that standard GMH every fucking Commodore you used to see would have a taillight out. That's how you knew you were coming up behind one at night from a distance.

Inspired by the one headlight BA Falcon movement, no doubt.

3 N15 pulsars on the way to work.

One in particular smashed up the ass and insisted on doing 60 IN AN 80 ZONE IN THE RIGHT FUCKING LANE.

This is obviously assuming all your AUX outputs are doing something. Ie idle control, and the other does water spray, and the other updates your Instagram automatically etc.

I saw a Honda City this morning that reminded me of this thread. It was even that Pine Lime Splice colour they came in. Always kinda wanted a City Pro T.

A workmate has a SSS she bought 2nd hand well over 10 years ago, it doesn't have the slugs, and if it's been resprayed they did a really good job.
There's another that parks in the building next door, again no slugs - it may not be a SSS but has the bigger exhaust & sounds like it's ploughing a field ...

I was replacing a tail-light globe on the VS at least twice a year.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Given most of these cars are worth 2c at Simsmetal, it seems like they're all tucked away in garages?

Not going through all the pages but has anyone said PT Cruisers yet?

Also, CRX's that used to be all the rage at Autosalons seem to have disappeared/understeerd into poles

The good ones are getting more expensive. My mates one is mint and has gone up 30k in two years in his garage.

This thread is interesting for what people consider 'modern'

I'd nominate the 300C, 2008ish they were everywhere but you pretty much don't see them at all any more.
