    Toshiba spare parts.

I've just bought myself a very cheap secondhand Satellite Pro 440CDT. It didn't come with a floppy drive and as usual the battery is stuffed.

Where can I source a new battery and floppy drive for it ?
    Either in Oz or o/s.

Any good US online shopping sites ?

Ring up secondhand dealers, I've fixed quite a lot of those Toshie's, the only serious problem they develop is part of the screen fades/goes bright white (it might be related to an 8210).

Anyway the batteries are a dime a dozen since the Lithium Ion batteries they use almost never die and most people should have heaps. The FDD's are in demand, from memory Toshiba want almost 200 bucks for them so that's out of the option. The 440 series notebooks use the slim floppy drive, there were two types used in the 400 series, the thick and thin ones.

Brand new genuine battery's for 440's are about $120, I've heard of repackers & aftermarket brands charging more like $200 so shop around. Bozz is spot on about the FDD, the drive itself costs about $200 + another $200 if you want the external case, I shit you not. The 440 was the first of the 400 series to switch to the thin select bay but if you find an older FDD with external case it will plug in and work fine (the port is at the right had side right at the back.)

I have a second hand battery, not sure on the quality, but should go well.

I have an external floppy drive with a case that works fine.

I live in Brisbane and can ship it to Darwin if you want it.

I'd like $200 for the lot, it is worth that to me, so I don't want to go any cheaper. (I have 2 of these laptops)

        Get back to me,

PS. My father used to work for Toshiba fixing these laptops so I have alot of parts sitting around.

I don't need the external case do I ? Will it slot into the same bay as the CD player?

It only cost me $300 and is perfect for tuning/data logging for the car.

I'm afraid to say $300 is too much to pay for a Pentium 133 laptop with a dud battery and no FDD.

I bought a Compaq Armada 4120 which is a very slimline Pentium 120, 2.1Gb HD, 32Mb of RAM, two batteries, 12.1" TFT screen, CDROM, FDD, Xircom ethernet/modem card, ie complete notebook for $200 about a year ago. Look around and you'll find notebooks of similar spec for even less money these days...

The offer above is OK value if it includes the external caddy.

Yeah it includes the external caddy, like I said though that is how much it is worth to me. Chances are if I sell it, I'll end up needing it!

              Its up to you....
