Is there something fancy done under the bonnet? Looks like a pretty tidy black tonner otherwise.

Hrm, fair enough. Grand Champions have been more... extravagant, in the past haven't they?

The chick with the back to front thing must be gutted being beaten by a fairly straightforward hq ute

From the live stream it scored well in the show hall then bagged a fuckload of points in the driving events.

Good to see it go to a car that wasn't a one-trick pony.

Good to see a basic design (but obviously well executed) win it all. I reckon the tray is 8 inches too long IMO
I own a two and a half litre Commodore

I'd bet they would be. But they broke an axle early in the driving events from what I understand, so they failed to score any points there which wouldn't have helped.

I spent ages in the top 60 hall and that ute was one of only a few cars I didn't getphotos of, pretty unassuming at a glance, but he also wasn't afraid to drive the balls off the thing either and looked like he smashed everyone in at least the go to whoa.

Paint looked awesome up close too, Really rich colour in the right lighting. Nice thing, not my style but can appreciate.

Anyways, here's a few photos from my weekend at the nats

I should also state that Adrian did an awesome job with all the social media stuff with the nats. Congrats and thanks!

On the topic of riding in utes, what I noticed it did was really change the way Tuff St behaved, and for me (in capacity of a trader and spectator) for the better. With no one riding in utes there were no gnarly scrags riding around waiting for a chance to get their annual spot of attention, and because of this there weren't nearly as many lairy bogan begging for them to get their cans out. Still screaming for tyre frying, but less boob chanting. Which then seemed to flow on to less heckling for books elsewhere. Dontget Ne wrong, there were still a few, but much less.

Yeah go on, I know there will be heaps of you thinking 'are you some kind of homo?', well no I'm not. But I do feel like the newer friendlier Summernats is one I like more, and if it became that little bit more so I'd love it even more so. But that's just me, I look at it partly from the perspective of what is going to send more people past my trade stand too, bevlcause when Tuff St gets rancid we stop trading.

Anyways, enough waffle, was a fucking great event this year.
