yup seems to idle that high most of the time and has a occasional hiccup in the idle (also stumbles under acceleration sometimes). needs a tuneup for sure, probably off to mazcare for that.
i drove it to work today haha. so brown.

^ this tap symbol pops up for a second every now and then, but coolant guage stays nice and steady and the levels of coolant seem to be stable. not real sure? used to aircooled stuff so this is well outside of my comfort zone :p
radiator cap does leak a little but doesn't seem to affect anything?
rear brakes have uneven wear on them, will have to see if there is a bias valve that needs fixing.
clutch pedal seems soft and it needs to be let nearly all the way out/takes 4000rpm to move off the line, figure the slave cylinder needs doing.
steering feels half connected so got to be some bushes that'll need replacing.
              also need belts done.

it feels really small! maloo pictured for scale

the interior is so brown haha, everywhere you look

The steering box will need some love if it's never been touched, usually a slight adjustment and new oil is enough. They were never great from factory and are always a little "dead" at straight ahead, but you can play around with camber/caster/tyres etc. The IPRA guys have got that all sorted. Fatboy off here should speak up about his RX-7, that thing was a series winner IIRC?

Have you stuck your head under the rear hatch lip and checked the drain holes?

what's in the rear drain holes that i need to look out for?

yeah box has never been touched, shouldn't be worn out either. same with the tie rod ends. idler arm is also solid.
gonna get mazcare to look over it as it needs a tune up anyway.
car leaked red fluid from front right when i first got it, so maybe a seal has gone in the steering box and it's all leaked out?

also noticed three SA22's at the current shannons auctions! will be following

There's only a small amount of fluid in the steering box so check it asap. From memory it's a small plastic bolt with an opening in the top. Gently undo it and the fluid should just be touching the bottom. Do not overfill it or replace the plastic bolt with a metal one (had a steering box nearly blow itself apart as the fluid expanded with engine bay heat).

If the fluid has leaked out, get under and wipe it off the rails, it's pretty nasty stuff (should normally be clutch fluid or something similar that takes paint off etc).

Drain holes - open hatch, look for two holes in the channel around the boot, above the tail lights from memory. There are plastic tubes IIRC that drain to the underside of the car. They fill up with crud, hatch doesnt drain properly and they hatch lip rusts away.

rotorheads is it worth putting any premix oil in the fuel? google search turns up a lot of shitfights on the topic. the arm for the metering thingo seems to work ok though. i just don't know enough on the topic.
had a brain fart and almost added upper cylinder head lubricant to the fuel the other day (do it on all my old cars) before i caught myself
i took this to cars and coffee, ran really well. ran into some PF'ers and probably came off as a mumbling retard since i'd just finished a night shift lol. parked well away from everything and still got some people coming up to check it out, was surprised.

also took it on the motorway. was pretty good, really quiet actually. dials are so 80's!

I prefer to have the mechanical oil injection blocked off and to add premix. That said it was for a rally car but was still a major PITA filling up all the little bottles to make it easy...

The general gist is that the metering pump usually works, in the newer ones it was an injector in each rotor which can sometimes fuck out. You can tell if it is working if you lose oil (slowly), from memory you lose about a quarter of the dipstick in a 13b between services. I think the 12A shares the same sump, so shouldn't be any different.

Otherwise you can remove the linkage and run premix, it's just to lubricate the seals against the housing
                          now with extra gearbox'y goodness

We had one come through recently, had a pretty good respray in red, brand new bridge port 12A by Maztech, good bits all over it, everything was just about new, 120k on the clock, interior in VERY good condition and a few "rare" bits from the US spec car like the rear garnish and stainless thing that went across the roof (looked shit but rare=cool right?)

Cunt paid like $6800 for it.
