parked at a mates place the other day, looks like a leb's dream lol
i took it round to the original owners place and picked her up for a drive. she got pretty emotional seeing it on the road again
bad news is that rotary workshop can't fix the tune. seems to be leaking vacuum somewhere and they suspect the rotors are scored and engine needs to be pulled apart. i don't really mind since i'd kind of assumed it would need it and given the condition of the rest of the car it makes sense to freshen it all up.
also once engine is out, way easier to pull brake booster and steering box and get them rebuilt.
If you've got suspect vacuum leak grab a can of carby cleaner and spray it around the top of the motor. If revs rise then you have a leak. What is the comp? You need to measure all six pulses not just compression front/rear.

thought it was vacuum at first (PCV and brake booster were leaking) but yeah further investigation found compression is low.
Comp can sometime be low due to stuck springs, tried sticking some atf down its throat?
looks like this is the winner, spring behind combustion seal had broken. plus oil seal had hardened and started to leak.
some slight rust on one surface from where air came in through the exhaust port while it sat, appears to be no big deal.
chrome lining all in place, basically everything else seems to be good (looks like you can still see some factory machining marks/finish or whatever the rotary equivalent is).
will be good to get all the sludge out of the cooling galleries also.
Mazcare showed me how to tear the engine down, made it look easy, had it all apart in about 10 min. i think he has done this before
once all it's torn down you definitely have a much smaller pile of bits than a piston engine haha! so tiny.
replacing clutch at same time, and rebuilding brake booster etc. don't think the steering box needs doing, looks like it may be to do with the wheel bearings/hubs or something.
what's the hotness for suspension on these? still on original shocks and springs, would like to replace (and lower slightly). definitely needs an alignment!
runs great since rebuild, enjoying it a lot. gutless but happy to spin the tach up and down. also really comfy.
