Echoing the above, I have no preference for the Holden v Ford sentiment that many see so vocal about. Currently driving a VF commodore, but have owned 3 Falcons over the years.

Given the price point, I'd take a BF wagon or Territory straight six over a 6 cyl commodore for tow duties everytime. The additional low down torque of the 4L straight 6, plus rigid back axle and old fashioned leaf springs, unlike a lot of IRS vehicles there is no tendency to scrub rear tyres when towing.

The Falcon 4L is going to be more likely to be reliable than a pre-VF AlloyTec, isn't it?
However, IRS-related reat-tyre scrubbing wouldn't happen with VE+ or IRS Falcon suspension design, will it?

If it's being daily-driven, and the towing weight is only <2000kg, I don't think it's worth putting up with an SUV/4WD.
And I can't think of much that'll do it with low ongoing costs than a Falcodore. I was trying to think of something more interesting!

Falcodore will do it easy and if it breaks, just leave it on the side of the road and buy another with the change in your pocket.

If you don't need to take more than one passenger in it, I reckon you can't go past a Falcon Ute for towpig duties. They eat up the miles easily and with the live rear axle are great for towing, and they just don't die.

Or Falcon wagon, BA/BF, basically a ute with a roof.
