    Could be, I'm not sure.
Another very clever thing ze Germans did at that time was to have a three engined bomber that only had two propellers - The third engine only drove a bloody big supercharger, and it was to boost the other two for really high altitude.

I was going to help a friend of mine do something like that for the SummerNats a while ago, ie, have a small engine & blower in the back of the car, so the main engine up the front would be not losing any power to drive the blower. The air going through to the front of the car would go through a liquid nitrogen bath to cool it, as you can get that stuff without too much trouble.
We were looking at making up around 1000hp at the rear wheels of a four litre Lexus powered car, at 9,000rpm.

Uh one question about the G-tech Bill, where did you find the cigiratte lighter socket, I didn't think planes had those. Did you tap ino some other on-board power source?

Here's my bet - he carried on a car battery. And his Flight Engineer said "are you ok with that Bill? Want me to hook up the alligator clips while you taxi?" and Bill said, "Nah, I'm fine!", as he hooked up the battery, stuck the G-tech in place, controlled the throttle with his mouth, and steered the plane with his feet. :D

The voltage of an aircraft's electrical system would be higher than 12v, I'd imagine, like maybe around 24v?

Yeah, Bill, can you at least get your F/E to take pics of you? Like a bunch of them?

And I want to see a pic of you, like the engine one, but with you hanging out of the APU exhaust nozzle. That'll be a laugh! :p

                  I'll see, Tex.
I'll also pass on shoving myself up the exhaust, as they're a bit grubby!

Haha, I'd imagined as much. :D Wouldn't that be part of the fun? No, hang on, you're right.

On a serious note, is this kind of mucking about frowned upon by any of your colleagues? Obviously you'd not to anything that would damage an aircraft, or compromise your ability to safely perform your duties, but would you be seen as a bit of a "cowboy" amongst your more stale associates (of which there must surely be many??)?

No, I am told I do a pretty good job. There's a big contrast between when we have to work hard and when there's nothing to do. We're always monitoring the systems constantly though, even when reading the paper or whatever.
There's times to muck around and times not to - I fly each flight like it was a simulator check-ride, as the only acceptable standard is perfect.

Yesss, that's right. That's how he got to where he is. Is that you Kim?

Bill: Cool, it was a question that suddenly popped in to my head, and I thought it might be interesting to see what your mates in the trade thought. I don't doubt for an instant you do an outstanding job. I guess if you didn't, you wouldn'y have one (a job), would you?

Anyway, Bill do you ever hit birds on the way up or down? What are they like when they get ingested into the engines?

A bird strike is BAD news Bozz... Especially through an engine.

When flying helos too, you're always keeping an eye out for them, if one even comes near you, you always clench a bit.
