    I had a S15 but have had a 600hp Clevo
a few v8 torries ect ect.

But I like to drive whether it be 1/4 mile or
    track or Pac Hwy ect.

    Thats just me.

Everyone that drives these 8sec cars had
    to start some where.

    Thats what Im saying.
    Thats just me.

"He said thats the 3rd car hes written off!! "

so he either knew the guy had written other cars off - or, even worse, the guy had written three of the owner's cars off.

well, that's simply the case of an idiot putting an idiot behind the wheel, at least it certainly sounds that way :p

Butcher, the Pro-flo/SIKJIM Orange Torana spat a piston out the side of the block....it will be much more than just a few thousand dollars damage...

This topic (like a number of others) can go on for eternity arguing the pros and cons, but basically, it comes down to personal opinion.

I am of the opinion that if it was my car, then I would drive it. Slowly, but surely, I would improve upon the cars times til I ran the best that the car and I were capable of since it is MY car.

However, I do respect the fact that there are some car owners who don't start from (say) a 15 second car and gradually improve its time down to a (say) 9 second pass; rather, they build a very quick car from day one and aren't able to race it due to inexperience/nervousness/safety or whatever. It boils down to personal reasons and personal choice.

I wouldn't let anyone race my car, and I am sure there are a number of others who feel the same, but on the flip side, there are others who feel that it would be best to let the experts drive.

          Quite simple really.

Having had the privelledge of driving someone elses car at the drags for them, with different people its different reasons, in this case he owner wanted to see it get a good time, he knew he couldn't get it himself so he just handed the keys over to someone he knew could do better..

others just like to see there car run instead od driving the thing, or they just don't have the nuts or lack of fear some people do when it comes to getting behind the hweel of something they know full well could kill them in a flash..

i will drive the car soon and the people that know me personally know why i havent driven the car as is.
i will go the melbourne with a couple of cars and get used to the car and then ill be the only one that drives it
atm the driver of my car is someone that i trust and drives the car exactly how id drive it

grimas, didn't mean for my post to put you down & yes I understand completely what you mean by it being shaky on the top end. I wasn't comparing u're 130mph to doing that in a newish kinda car.... more so overlooked what u meant by being shaky. I thought you intended that the engine itself seemed a little uneasy up there - my apologies.

And no, I haven't been to 130mph on slicks... but 140mph in a 14yr old car with the original 1.8litre engine (nothing that great, but i do have an idea of what its like).

I buy a car to DRIVE and ENJOY it...otherwise I'd just be a poser IMHO.

I guess if you just throw money at a car and get someone else to do the job without much of your own creative input, your a poser,

but to take Mario as an example, he seems to be designing everything himself, and is doing it for the engineering challenges involved, cant see anything wrong with that, and with other people, they might be throwing different parts/ideas together (even if someone else does the mechanical work) just to see what different results they get.

if i was a mechanic and i had just pu tin heaps of time to build up a fast car for a customer, and i saw him write it off , id be pissed at what a waste of my time it was, so if they dont think they can handle it i think its better for someone else to drive it ,

that probably doesnt make sence but it did when i was typing

                                Rustla,
Mechanics are paid to do a Job.

So after you just handed over say 20k

The mechanic is now a very happy camper.

So if you write off your own car the only person
that has a right to be pissed off is Yourself.

As for Mario, Im sure he could drive it.
When GTR 700 was still a streeter
he drove it. Mind you he launched the thing
                                F*cking hard!!!:D

Sp yes it would take him along
time to get good numbers, he would then
appreciate his car a whole lot more.
