question for some Computer hardware ppls

Not at all car related but i was wondering if someone here could help me out.

I'm just building a new pc got an abit NF7-S mobo and whotnot

hooked everything up and was getting a black screenon bootup
    (E*&@#(*&#@$*&)

after much plugging cursing unplugging cursing figured out that it's the new ddr ram

it works on a way old mobo but not this new one

    corsair 400drr
is there anything i can do to get it working on this board?

400 speed ddr ram is still verry unreliable in that only every other motherboard will accept it.If it doesn't work in yours then it never will. swap it for some 333ddr and you'll bearly notice the differance but while your there you should realy get 512 meg if you don't allready.

the motherboard specifically states that it supports 400drr

      and yeh it's 512

        - Three 184-pin DIMM sockets
        - Supports 3 DIMM DDR 200/266/333 (Max. 3GB)
        - Supports 2 DIMM DDR 400 (Max. 2GB)

unfortunately I have heard reports from other ppl that they are still having problems with it even thought the board states it supports it. You will have to swap it for another brand of ram.you will find one that works eventualy I've been told.

I have heard some corsair DDR400 sticks don't work, and that corsair replace them for free. can't help any more than that unfortunately.

I bought XMS3200 and an epox 8rda+ and they work fine together.. luckily

I highly recommend posting at the forums at www.overclockers.com.au for computer problems. Not sure if you all already knew about that site, but it is for computer enthusiasts what performance forums is for car enthusiasts!

400 is right at the limit of DDR1 .. it means that you really need to stick to only one stick if possible.

                  - DDRII will solve all th probs.
