Yep, "if we don't know what it is, then it doesn't exist". I went for that through that for 5 years before I finally gave up and decided I will just have to live with the fact that I feel dizzy all day, everyday.Originally posted by de_rift

Still, I'd prefer a doctor who's honest that they don't know than one that pretends they do (something mystical) to make $$$.
I found the best things I could do to make things even slightly better was to find ways to reduce stress, get more exercise, and eat better.

Well I've been to a couple of weird homeo/naturopaths, like doctors there's good and bad ones. The guy I'm seeing now is a GP X Naturopath, and he has helped me make the most progress so far with diagnosis and recovery.I take photos of shiny things with wheels. www.rohanphillips.com

As both a medical student and having had my mother pass away from cancer in january I think I can say that doctors are pretty bloody good at what they do.
My mum was given 3 months to live about 5 years ago and doctors worked around the clock to make her quality of life better and to extend her life. I have nothing but admiration for her doctors and other doctors for the hours they put in and the dedication they have to their work. It is pretty arrogant to say they will just dismiss you and that modern drugs do less good than harm. Modern drugs are nothing short of amazing in the way they interact with the body's biochemistry and drug therapy is all about compromise between advantages and side affects.
If you feel your doctor is not treating you well and you feel you can do better then shop around. Modern medicine is a business to an extent. Naturopaths can be great as well as my mum found out but the scientific basis of disease is always still paramount to the treatment. I am sick of picking up the paper and reading about how unsatisfied ppl are with the quality of health care. I work 100 hour weeks and still get yelled at if I'm 5mins late to see some druggy who needs meds.
Please don't talk doctors down as I have put the last 6 years of my life into studying it and have a passion for it, and when I get told we don't do a good job it is pretty upsetting.

My main bitch is I had a gastroenterologist for almost 2 years, all he could find was lactose intolerance and gastritis, and all my other problems were apparently all in my head. I then go to the GP X Naturopath, who quickly finds I have chronic food poisoning, leaky gut syndrome, chronic fatigue and severe candiasis of the lower intestine. All other doctors said they could find nothing medically wrong with me, and they couldn't do anything. How can a gastroenterologist who specialises in digestive disorders not find chronic food poisoning. He was also giving me tablets that stopped me from properly digesting food, as soon as my new Doc read the files from him he said he was a stupid dickhead.I take photos of shiny things with wheels. www.rohanphillips.com

KwikJim - I'm sure its not a personal attack at you. Some people in the world know absolutely everything and therefore are allowed to pass judgements at anybody's chosen career path.
I always get it in the I.T. and electronics industry and I'm certain mechanics, bricklayers, plumbers, accountants, police, salespeople, etc etc would all get the know it all's saying how crap and wrong everyone is at their respective jobs.
Every industry has its share of fool's but it's the job of the know-it-all's to go carting everybody into the same basket.WTB in Melb - Ford AU 6 cyl engine - needs to be in good conditionOriginally posted by paul05don't waste your time asking questions about real cars on the rice forum go to ls1 .com ,it's alot more accommodating and informative than pf.

I think the biggest tip here is find a doctor you can trust and knows what he's doing.
My personal doctor who i've gone to for all my life recently sold his practise and pissed off to some little one on the other side of town (got sick of all the other doctors in his practise i think). Took me ages to track him down, but i got him
It also turns out he's the #1 doctor in townsville for insurance quotes etc etc.. He's never failed me!'95 Nissan 180SXOriginally posted by CussCussa hub doesnt ask who the fuck tremolo is, it just sends it to everyone hoping one of them is tremolo
