The twin scroll turbo is touted to have MUCH less lag than an ordinary turbo, while still retaining good mid range and top end...thats the main advantage.

As for robustness and reliability, they are exactly the same as a normal turbo

Not sure if the WRC cars run twin scroll though..

Balistic: Thanks for the info. Looks like a worthwhile upgrade then if not chasing monster horse power. That 6k might come down too in a few years time, and it'd be interesting to see what the aftermarkets have.

Any info on whether the Driver Controlled Centre Diff can be installed in an Oz-Spec STi?

They wouldn't need to; lag's really the only thing the "twin-scroll" turbo's about, innit? Surely that's pointless if you're running anti-lag ... in fact they probably run a larger turbo than would be driveable on the road?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

                  Thanks

Yep they are a dealer fitted Subaru option, for the front lip, side skirts and rear lip retail was 1800 bucks, but with a bit of haggling, I got them for nothing :D

With the MY03, I think this option has been deleted..

Also, to all Subaru owners, a rear bootlid debadging goes a long way with improving the cleanliness of the rear end

After doing a bit more research, they run an IHI turbo with restrictor..

IHI turbos are actually designed with rally use in mind, and work very well with a restrictor, producing lots of torque in the mid range...not sure of the size though, but I'm sure it doesnt matter because anti-lag would sort out any lag issues
