The story is well-known: Somewhere in the mountains the Finn picks up a beautiful lady which even now had a breakdown. The beauty is impressed by the A-Class beast and says: "That is a fast car." At Häkkinen's hint that the car has two engines she says with disparaging view: "Oh yes. And you are Formula-1 world-champion."

Exactly. Sure, we are having fun (so we say), but is it worth giving up opportunites like property etc?
For example, I could've spent my dough on a house, sold it by now, made a decent profit, bought a good second-hander, and travelled round the world!
Hmm, this is the reason why I changed my title under my nick....

Dirtyrex sounds you have had a kid or had a revelation, maybe read "Lifes little instruction manual "

Having a kid put things into perspective pretty damn quickly for me, I was always bordering on the what am I doing with my money and my cars and giving the lot away. My family is the single most greatest pleasure in life at the moment and I am imagining till the end of my days.

I have put all car matters on hold as well, the rex will be in the family for quite some time me thinks which is why no more mods are happening, the way the car is setup however it will still put a grin on my face ear to ear. I am not over the car scene but have just put things in perspective. What a rant.

                A short list from me..

                KE20 Corolla (wrote off)
AE 82 Corolla -- x wife still has to my knowledge..
KE30 Corolla-- sims metal cube.. zac has the engine and gearbox though
N13 Pulsar Q-- still for sale... can't get rid of the ****er..
Holden Gemini-- rally car.. still in transit to sydney.. but here this week.

soon to come.. falcodore tow car..

I think it's a balance.. you gotta live for now to a degree, but there is no point losing a couple of houses modding cars, unless loosing a couple of houses in value isn't a big issue for you long term..

FWIW my N13 cost me the most $... blown gearbox's and stuffed driveshafts and panel beating will do that..

                Rowds

1998 MX5 - Ohlins DFV coilovers, Roll bar,15 x7.5 Konig Litespeeds, Mania Intake
                2014 Colorado LT - Oversized Whitegoods. Kid/bike/track hack/horse hauler.

I can relate to Edo and would not change a thing! I am sure most who go racing do it with a view to be the best and actually make money which can be done at the top level. I have only ever lost money on the race cars and the Verada (company car anyway so was tax deduction) Buying houses and all is great (and some security is needed) but you also never know what life brings around the corner so I would rather enjoy what I really get a kick out of (and for me that is racing - I don't drink/smoke/do drugs - they would probably be way cheaper) than spend the rest of my life saving, buying property etc only to be incapacitated and possibly unable to enjoy it later

That said, I would not go into debt to race or buy a car (only done that with the Verada - novated lease) ... hence why I am sitting on the sideline at the moment trying to get some backing to get back out there to race. Buy a car right and you can make money on it (notice that most of mine are like Secoh's - cheap to start with that when tidied up sold for more!) Not quite as many though!
CU in the forest ... sideways!

I highly doubt anyone who has been/is into cars has not lost money. It's a curse but to those who enjoy it a worthy one.

Lifes pretty annoying at the best of times, atleast on those shitty days when nothing else is working you can go outside and look at whatever beast you have sitting in the drive way and hopefully smile.

I personally have lost thousands, and i get over it pretty quickly and still manage to have money in the bank so as long as there is money in the bank it will go towards mods or new money pits.

Oh I forgot the old poo brown Sunny.
The paint was so bad I used to rub oil on it to give it a gloss every 3 weeks or so.
This might have had something to do with the plume it made when the "darker local decendants" stole it and set it alight.
