Names
I believe the COLT STARION GSR was the UK version?
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong...
In Australia they were released Mitsubishi Starion JA, JB, JD
And in USA they were released as Mitsubishi Starion LS, ES, ESI, ESI-R.. somewhere along the line Chrsyler took over and it changed to Chrslyer Conquest TSI
And hence why some people refer to them as STARQUESTS i think

That champagne widebody Starion is not in such a bad state. I know for a fact that they sell for up to 1 million Yen in Japan, but they average at about 600,000 ($8,100 AUD). The one pictured above sold for 305,000 Yen ($4,100AUD). This car would more than likely cost about $12,000AUD registered in Australia.
Alexis,
In the US, both Mitsubishi and Chrysler sold the same car under different names, Starion and Conquest respectively, hence the hybrid name of "Starquest".
Also, the US (and UK) Starion "LS, ES, ESI, ESI-R" model specification names refer to "Limited Sport, Euro Sport, Euro Sport Intercooled, and Euro Sport Intercooled-Racing". The LS and ES where the early flat bodies, while the ESI and ESI-R where the wide bodies. The ESI-R is the model that came with adjustable suspension, wider wheels, and other such extras.
The "TSI" in Conquest TSI means "Turbo Sport Intercooled"
All of the above is from memory, so please feel free to correct me. I couldn't be stuffed browsing the US Starquest forums for the exact info.
Another thing, the flat body Starions have the body code "A183" while the widebodies have the code "A187".
We have the JA, JB, and JD's, but the japs and the US/UK got the widebodies and also got the JF's :DWidebody GTS-tt

From Nxtime's link:
Woah.. where can I get me one of them?but then this is a company that called one of its economy cars the Lettuce
From some other page about the Tokyo Motor Show:
So.. I reckon Starion isn't that bad"In the past, there have been some corkers: the Toyota Synus, Mitsubishi Dingo, Suzuki Alto Afternoon Tea, Toyota Country Boy and Deli Boy Supreme, Nissan Cedric and, my favourite, the Mitsubishi Lettuce."
This year's show included concept vehicles called: the Isuzu Begin Funky Box, Nissan Nails, Honda Life Dunk, Mazda Secret Hideout, Daihatsu Naked F, Toyota Cist and Suzuki Van Van.
Everyday cars on sale in Japan include: the Daihatsu Terios Kid, Honda Fit, Mazda Bongo Friendee, Isuzu Big Horn, Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear, Nissan Datsun, Suzuki Every Landy and Toyota Sparky.
Actually, a Mazda Secret Hideout sounds kinda cool.. not as cool as the Daihatsu Naked F though obviously..

"yes!" says the man who hopes his rx7 won't be a dime a dozen by the time he gets it home :pOriginally posted by C-Red
I wouldnt be buying an '89 car and storing it if I was any of you guys. Word thru the traps is that the 15yo vehicle directive is going to be changed to 20you vehicles...

Actually - this change would not surprise me in the least. This rule has been fairly boring until now - but in the next few years it should cause a flood of imports (the 2nd coming?? :D ). Will the clamps come down??

I've heard from government sources connected to DOTARS. I'd say it'd be 75% accurate. They'll knock it on the head by saying the ruling was originally meant for cars like '30s Bentleys - not '88 Pajeros - and that they are worried about so many not ADR applicable vehicles entering the country. The fact that importers and hangers on are talking up the '89 stuff already is making the decision very easy for them methinks.
