Use your imagination..... you can turn any car into a cruiser, from a big old yank tank, a classic Holden.... or even a Volvo!!

Just go nuts and do what you think is cool.......
the cruiser we are thinking of doing for my mum when we find the right project starter car is an EH wagon, painted a bright pink colour with white - pink pearl roof, lotsa chrome and slammed on its guts with white walls and stock hubcaps. Then we have an old mal we were going to paint the same colour as the car and bolt it to a set of custom chrome roof racks......

not everyones cup of tea but i reckon it would be a pretty 'head - turning' cruiser!!

Definitely has to be an EH...they are a dime a dozen, and even the really good ones arent too expensive!!!

Slammed on stock hubcaps, they look the goods :D

i reckon old jags, mercs, peugot, citroens, volvos etc make out of the ordinary cruisers..

though when i have the money... my XC will be a nice cruiser, but with enough poke too :D

Lexus celsior 1989 model can be got for as low as $8500. Its basically a lexus ls400 that was sold in australia for over 100g's, but the cheap ones are 15 year old imports, starting jan 1 next year. Put some chrome rims on it and lower it, you got one pimp mobile. Its not 4k like you asked, but it has lots of class and plenty of style to boot. There was a black one of these in the 1st season of the sopranos. The young mob guy called Christopher Moltisanti in the show was pimping around in a black one with 19 or 20" chromes, and fully decked. I'm not a big fan of this type of stuff, but this thing got the me saying things like, fully sic moite and sic habib.

Mate I sold my 1968 Pontiac Parrisienne for $4,000 last year, she was huge (19.5 feet actually), 400 cube motor and ran on LPG, so good cheap US cars are out there, in fact try searching for Oldsmobiles, buicks and galaxies in the trading post site, you'll be surprised what you find!

If you haven't seen it already, what about the cream car in this thread, the Mazda 1800(S)? You get Italian styling with Japanese build quality & virtually rotary levels of street-cred. Plus it surely wouldn't be that hard to rotarise at a later date, if that grabs your bag.

Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
