Dont forget that most quality oil filters have an anti drain back valve that stops the oil from the filter flowing back into the sump while left overnight etc.This is done so you get nearly instant oil pressure instead of having to wait every morning for the oil pump to fill up the filter before it gets to the vitals.

Just make sure you check and top up the oil after the procedure and it will be OK.

BTW- i always nip my filters up half a turn after its seated firmly with the tool just to be sure as id rather have to spend a little time getting it off rather than having no oil in the donk!
