that first encounter with the soft-top pretty much saved your life, seeing as its taut fabric a lot of your momentum would have been absorbed by the car/roof.

my brother slammed into the back of a idiot who pulledo ntpo thie highway without looking. his speed was around 100 and he wasnt wearing a seat belt!!!! i nearly beat him up for that
he slammed into the steering colum and shattered the dash but he got out of it with just a scratch on his arm and looked fine.
so i can believe that you can survive from a crash at 70
