The budget was not $800 000 000. It was $170 000 000 (US). It has already made $80 000 000, and wont struggle to make up the rest.Originally posted by Stang
I seriously doubt T3 is going to even come close to breaking even, let alone make a profit. How the hell do you spend $800 000 000+ on a movie that's mostly computer effects?
Check www.imdb.com for all those details.
Baggins was correct about the liquid effect in the Abyss- that looks great too. That movie was also on the other day.
But back to T3- I'll see it but I dont expect anything on T2.Lobstersock.

From what I've heard it's meant to be VERY good. Obviously a lot of the celebs that know Arnie go on saying it was brilliant etc, but a friend with very similar tastes to myself got a bootleg copy and said it was very good indeed.
As for that $800,000,000 crap.....it's best left alone. In fact I was watching a making of on Fox the other day and a lot of the 'special effects' were done physically and not by computers. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it, and I also dont expect it to eclipse T2, but it shouldn't be too far off.
Btw...on a side note, any FPS gamers here should also be excited about the upcoming Multiplayer FPS based on Terminator 3/that future as it looks like it'll be very interesting to play and looks pretty emersive.

I'm certain I saw that figure in either a newspaper or magazine, they were making a fuss about it being the most expensive movie ever made by far. I know these kind of publications print lots of crap, but I wouldn't have thought they'd be THAT far off.I take photos of shiny things with wheels. www.rohanphillips.com

Well maybe it said $300 million for Titanic and he thought it said $800 mill
From what I've seen Titanic used HEAPS more computer generated special effects than T3 looks to have used.
All that money still didn't stop Titanic from sucking the big one, no thanks to Leo "I'm a pretty boy who cant act for shit" DeCaprio being cast in it.
Hopefully T3 kicks some ass

I bet you there is as much CG in T3 as in titanic only difference is you won't be able to see it.
CG is used alot for stunt doubles now and just to fill scenes eg LOTR's thousands of orks. Alot of the make up in T3 looks like it uses some sorta nifty compositing trick, so you could say alot of the make up is cg.

I'd be willing to bet quite a large sum that the article DID say the movie cost $800 million to make, I'm don't think they're right though. It did seem to be a quite outlandish figure, but a million dollars doesn't go as far as it used to. If recycling isn't this week I may be able to find the article....*runs outside to check the bins*I take photos of shiny things with wheels. www.rohanphillips.com

Hang on maybe the article said $800 million Australian, which would be a more credulous $400ish million US, making it still more expensive than Titanic.I take photos of shiny things with wheels. www.rohanphillips.com

Actually, mentioning that....$800mill AU would actually be more like $500 mil US now, so they could have meant all 3 Terminator movies costs....seeing it is now effectively a trilogy which I would expect to end after this one and T2 being widely documented as the most expensive movie made prior to Titanic.

I was watching T2 the other night too (just got it on DVD) but I was instead thinking of how much better T1 is over T2. Sure T2 has the special effects, but when you think about it, the story line is the same as T1, but instead they made it a kind of 'feel good movie'
T1: The original and the best

I cant wait to see T3. Hoping its good, for Arnie's sake aswell, considering the amount of flops hes been in lately.
Im a big Terminator fan, and i have to agree with some people, the original is the best. Especially the cop shop scene, watched that hundreds of times. :D
