As impressively easy as it was for you to write that. Would you care to back it up? Or should I just take it that you "reckon" therefore it's true?

EDIT: I sincerely hope that you're not talking about what I think you are, because only a ****wit would take autocross times as proof that one car is better than another.

Q, Oddly enough Ive only ever driven Boxster S's with the optional suspension upgrade (from memory its about $1800 so pretty popular).

I think the 350z would make an exceptional targa car, it may need some fiddling with spring & shock rates (which EVERY car needs) but the engine would be perfect for someone like me who will occasionally arrive at a corner a gear too high & in my current & previous cars either drop off the vtec, or off boost. A relatively big (for the size of the car) engine will still haul you out of the corner at a reasonable pace.
Still I havent driven one, & you would have to ask whether it would be better than a GTR for the same $. Before anyone slams me about that, Targa will let you run a GTR in N1 spec, so you buy a 33 V-spec & mod it (std rebuild with N1 turbos, I/C, Motec, exhaust, clutch), fit it with a cage, suspension & safety equip & you would be at around the same $ as a Track 350z with motec, exhaust, cage, suspension & safety equip. Either way its an $80k+ proposition.

The GTR is an outright car (which means youre up against Jim...doh!) & the Z is a class car & could possibly win that class.

The Boyce car springs to mind, can't remember the drivers name. Dang, I used to do a bit of work with him and BCA logic, he never came across as a car nut...

the upgrade package is fitted to cars with RO30 suspension.
For some bizarre reason, my S was fitted with USA spec suspension, not ROW 30.
That is why I changed it.

Maybe you should make yourself aware of the facts before you question someones credibilty.......

              No arguement here
My criticism was the track pack is so rough it actually impedes the 350's "road" handling....

I'm still confused as to who originally wrote that artcle?!?
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

I questioned the dubious mods made to your car...not neccessarily the suspension. I do doubt that Porsche released the boxster in any market with any factory suspension setup that has the car sitting as low as yours though. I also doubt that your setup is better handling (especially on the road) than the factory upgrade. No, I havent driven it but given how low it is none of the control arms could possibly be sitting in their optimum angles & the loss in suspension travel either results in more use of the bumpstops or much heavier springs.

If the ride in the 350z is too hard for the road then its probably too hard for targa. Eg my honda rides better & softer than a std one.

I hadnt seen that GTR article, thanks. Seems JE liked that one...its amazing what happens when you get the suspension setup spot on. I note he was commenting on the ride being comftable too. A well setup R32 GTR can be good too, but the front end will never be as good as a 33 or 34.

Even if I had proof to write that, I wouldn't even reply to someone who calls another member on this forum a ****wit for no apparent reason.

If only you'd do your own homework and ask around and find out the Track times that the standard 350Z does compared to an M3...

And I didn't say which car is better - I simply said the 350Z owns the M3 with the relatively lack of straight line speed, therefore it means it corners better.

I didn't. I suggested a ****wit might use autocross times but surely you didnt do that did you?

I did do my homework. In fact on the 350Z forums (of which I'm a member) any comparason with E46 M3's (and Euro E36's for that matter too) is shot down by 350Z OWNERS as being unfair on the Z. I've seen no local tests but two of the US mags that compared the two said that the 350Z was beaten across the board, track inlcuded.

Now I can't find any Australian lap times for 350Z's (does that one at Bathurst 24hr count?) but the Nurburgring time for the Z (non-factory to be fair) is nearly a minute slower, so I'm assuming that you know something I don't? You posted that the 350Z owns an E46 M3 around "the track" (wherever that is) and I'm still yet to see anything of the sort. I just home this "track" isn't a carpark full of second-hand traffic cones in Japan somewhere.

That comment about the M3 was the one that really made my eyes roll back.

on point of 350z, if the owners happy with it good on them, but its not my kind of car.

on point of boxster S being best handeling car.. even better than a GT3CS? i find it hard to believe that the bottom line(well a bit above due to S) bread and butter porsche can hold its own with 1.. but thats my imho :D
