someone ALWAYS has to make things personal, don't they?

as for the increase, more people, faster cars, more cars, technology, media is what makes it happen.. oh, and stupidity

I'm not saying a deserted industrial area with kms of new, wide, straight blacktop is necessarily a good place to be driving so fast, but it's still a slightly different matter when someone's doing 120km/h there than when it's some narrow residential street with kiddies playing tip-and-run on the road.
There's a number of 70 zones (City West Link) near my house, ie
one is about 700metres long, and despite having a few bends you could go hella fast there and not be menace. You could ause trouble if you crossed the centre island, but that would be hard, and the left hand side is 5metre+ concrete noise shielding.

Is 70km/h appropriate? it's consistent with the rest of the stretch, but in isolation it could be faster.

haha, i got fined first month of my p's. 3 in one,... the copper followed me down the road, for 6 km, before i pulled up, and there was he trailing behind me by about 200 metres and stopped behind me.,..in the dark, i never saw him. he noted everything i did, lucky i was in a tp magna wagon at the time, so i still have my licence, cause they didnt have a radar and i wasnt going too quick. i wont write down any of my records though, but from a p plater point of view, of course its never safe doing 160 in 60 zone, u have much les reaction time, braking takes longer, and if u hit something its all over etc etc, but maybe some places and times of the day have less risk then others. So its only til later on you realize it was a bloody idiot thing to do

I think there should be some place that's easily accessible for everyone (like Eastern Creek) that people can get their "speed fix"... though many people here do go to Wakefield... but it seems those that do speed don't have any interest in taking that speed off public streets and onto a track. Well, that's my though....

If I was a P plater, and I could get affordable access to a racetrack, I think I'd be more inclined to do my silly stuff there than on public streets.
