    Dunno Chris, customers flocked to the original 206 GTi when they were priced at $32K.

    In fact, there was an 8 month wait on them for about 2 years.

    I imagine the same will happen for the 206 GTi 180. For some reason though, I'm not keen on looking at one. Maybe because it is about 3 years overdue, or maybe because I see the Astra Turbo as being better value.

      If you consider a WRX Wagon as a hot hatch , it is totally eclisped by the Audi RS4, one has appropiate rego plates too "WRXSUX" lol

      So what if it has a massive price tag?

        I agree. Probably more outright power potential, but Holden/Opel dont really have a name for handling/balance, whereas teh frogs do.

        I still think $30-35k is a lot of money for a two door hatch!

              .....and the GTi6 was low 40's, and the VR6 (has anyone mentioned this yet?) was high 40's.

              I'm surprised the current bunch of hot hatches are in the 32-40K bracket. It wouldn't be totally out of place if they were in the 40-48K bracket in my opinion.

                    how much are vr6's now?? .....

                    new Astra turbo will have 2.4 litre engine with 179kw according to latest issue of Motor......

                    looking forward to comparo of S3 vs R32 vs 147GTA....

                        But for 60k an sti is probably better value....even in resale terms.

                        On the other hand if you had a stripped out 206gti (see the Rallye edition in Europe) for high 20ks then it would be good value!

                              GTi6, pre-GST was $47K on the road, as you had to et the alcantara in 1999, and then add metallic paint. Was the same price as a Golf GTI on the road for me, I ended up gettin a Golf GTI for $46K with a bunch of add ons.

                              GST has had a lot to do with bringing the price of cars down in the recent past.
