Hehehe... how many Swifts did you see with trispokes going round! I guess everyone who had a swift migrated to the wrx. There is probably a similar antipathy after a while. Nothing to do with how good the car is, just that everyone had one.

Daihatsu Charade G201 Detomaso
93kw (early to mid 90's) from 16v 1.6
LSD
Most power options
Quite good suspension set-up from the factory
Factory Recaro's
Ric Bates F2 winning Charade was based on the Detomaso, as was the one that won a year or two ago
or
G100 Charade GTti
100hp 993cc Twincam Turbo
VERY strong motor and ancillaries, will easily make double the factory output without the need for upgraded internals/fuel system etc, the British club racers are getting around 250hp from reasonably standard engines with bigger turbo's and programmable ECU'sWWPBD

Thats drifting a bit far away from the definition of a hatch! Maybe someone should start up a coupe thread!
I define hatch as small car usually based on a fwd chassis, having a liftback style rear "door" (to satisfy Secoh and Rowds
). 4wd and specialist one-offs such as the v6 Clio and GTir are accepted, but a little off topic.

I think the T16 was far from being a Q car.Originally posted by itsnotagsr
Hehehe... bit of a Q car

Wheel arches like that aren't very Q-like.
But, I don't consider a Group B Rally Car to be a hot hatch, it's a bit oo manic for that.
How about Ford Escort RS Cosworth? That was one serioulsy horn car.
I'd agree with the Focus RS too. That'd be my pick of the current hyper hatches...until I change my mind again

Hang on ... we're allowed to modify cars to come up with a "best" hot hatch?Originally posted by joshua
Series 1 mazda RX-7 turbo :D. an absolute classic any way you look at it.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
