Parity? Don't you get it? Procar WANT the Monaro to win because that will help the event be "successful". Their idea of parity is making sure the Monaro has an easy run. If these cars are all meant to be so even, why, just like last year, are the Monaros so easily pulling away from the rest of the field?

Pfft - the whole race is a farce. Procar had an opportunity to make something good with this event but in an attempt to pander to the ego of the Australian public they have totally f*cked it up.

    That's my opinion anyway.

I reckon the Monaro deserves to win And to all the knockers, why don't you build a car to the same rules and go have a crack at beating it?
They will. Watch out for Nations Cup next year. Jim Richards is apparently in the process of building a 500+ HP 911 Turbo.

what technical rules are there that prevent V8 Supercars from entering? (Apart from it being a dumb idea)
The outright category (ie Nations Cup cars) are for 2 door GT Sports cars (ie no four door taxis allowed).

Wouldnt be hard they have 440hp from the factory, with a race exhaust already you'd be up around the 470 mark.

The story is well-known: Somewhere in the mountains the Finn picks up a beautiful lady which even now had a breakdown. The beauty is impressed by the A-Class beast and says: "That is a fast car." At Häkkinen's hint that the car has two engines she says with disparaging view: "Oh yes. And you are Formula-1 world-champion."

That's so obvious becasue after, where are we, lap 128, the Brabham Ferrari 360 is a whole two seconds behind the leading Monaro, and it's fastest time is the same as the monaro's to within a few 10th's of a second.

That totally sucks doesn't it the Monaro having a two second lead after 128 laps.

And where are you getting that info from? The timing sheets that I can see suggest that the Ferrari is a lap down.

It seems to update very quickly, close to live.

Ok, forgive me if I'm missing something stupidly obvious. (I'm known to do that occasionally )
But how does that timesheet show the times between cars? What exactly does the "Race.Time" column represent? Is it the time at which the car last crossed the start/finish line? If so, that would put the Ferrari 1 lap plus about 25 seconds behind the 05 Monaro and even further behind the 427 (at lap 168).

I still don't see where people (Dazz, Hardcore) are getting their figures from that say the Ferrari is within a handful of seconds of the Monaro.

They're wrong, the Ferrari is a lap down. That racetime column only becomes relevant when 2 cars (or more) are on the same lap.

Mind you the Ferrari's best lap wasn't too far off the Monaros. I wonder which driver set that lap...

                              Ah, ok. Thanks.

                              Dazz - shut the **** up. :p

Actually, I'm impressed that the Ferrari is only a lap down, and now (since the 427 just pitted) on the same lap as the 427 (barely, and still a lap down on 05). After 8.5 hours I expected the gap to be much bigger.

At the time of writing, it was on the same lap.
