Got back a little while ago. Got soaked, got sunburned, then got soaked again, then nice weather today....

Didn't find any PF guys on the mount - too many Magnas, too many pissed guys, and I couldn't find Chip's Pug....

Anyways, photos will be up soon. Shot about 500mb worth, so I need to sort them out first. Both the 2Hr and the 24Hr race.

If you missed out this year, GO NEXT YEAR. It's freekin' awesome.

Do you think they will ban the Monaro for winning like they banned the RX7??????

Bathurst 24 hour monaro ad over for another year

Just got back actually was awesome, got burnt, drenched, burnt and drenched some more, great !

We ended up building some pretty impressive tarp-based shelter on sat night though imo.

The Monaro's finishing like that was looking to be quite staged

I have to say I HATE Both Manaros and really
Brock is still on number 9.

Why are the Monaros in the race?
Why don't they let Ford enter Ingalls
            V8 Supercar?
They are almost the same thing!
except the Monaro is a 427!

            Not really worth watching,
            but I still did!

              I agree.

I reckon they should only count victories in each class.

It's similar to when they say about Jim Richards winning however many he's won, and they count 2 litre victories as well. shits me up the wall.

                Should I get pedantic and remind everyone that Brocky's first win wasn't a 1000km, but actually a 500mile? :p

How about he's won 10 enduro races around the Mountain

And here is my first batch of photos from the 2Hr Showroom Showdown on Saturday morning......pics are a bit out of order, but I'm so tired I can't be f-d fixing it up :D

That was the most appalling race coverage I have EVER seen. Fancy ending the first days coverage and then sticking on a thirty year old episode of Get Smart!!!!! If you have the rights to the race why not broadcast it every chance you get??? Again last night/this morning we get to see an hour of "Tour of Duty" instead of the race. What the hell are you thinking you tools at channel 7?????? Give it to somebody who'll do it properly for god's sake.

Because a re-run is cheaper to produce than a live outside broadcast.

HOLDEN PR - NOt onyl were the TV crew being paid by Holden - like Monaro this monaro that GEE and they wereready with brocks victory, they had old film out ETC, it was planned end of last year.

Purpose built car for a 24 hours race, with not limits EG no engine size limits not body limites ETC.
At least in the prototype LaMonz24hr they have desgin limits that restrict engine size body type ETC.

At least if thay had restrictions it woudl make it even.

Yeah brock wins in a V8 supercar with a bigger less streesed motor, Yeah it's so great to see. Gee does it sound familiar with what happened earlier in GTP and well we know in late 80's early 90's. Yeah but if it's a V8 or Holden.

if they want to include groupA/V8SC results to brocks wins on the mountain then his 10 looks dismal compared to jim richards total.

anyone know what happend to the GT40 race car that was supposed to be in this year?

what about the vipers? the 427`s are special build race cars, but why arn`t dodge/chrysler allowed to enter a viper GTS-R lemans car?

i still don`t get how cams can ban john bowe`s mustang cobra because ford "didn`t sell enough in australia",

yet holden/GRM where allowed to enter the 427 "monaro`s" because holden said they where going to build them for public sale. then holden officially announce they had NO INTENTION to build or market the 427`s,and they are still allowed to enter.

i`d bet that if someone with the cash ($475 000) walked in to GRM they wouldn`t sell or build them one.and i`d bet if FPV/FPR/PRODRIVE built something along the lines of the 427`s there would be a major sh*tfight from GMH

next year i want to see a new ford GT (new GT40) ford worldwide backed race car in there, along with a few lemans cars like panoz ect

Where did it say they were banned?

The only reason the Vipers from the Nation Cup class weren't in it this year was due to budget, not becasue they were banned. So get over that argument.

From Ross Palmer, Procar boss ..........

                                "Nations Cup.
Group1. Anything goes so long as it fits into a parity window of performance determined by our technical group. The 427 monaro in nations Cup was engineered and conceived some 12 months before HSV announced a road version. CSV and Harrop Engineering are building road versions of the 7 litre Monaro with CSV selling their first road car to a customer some 3 weeks ago.

Having said that it is not a requirement in the PROCAR rules for a road going version of the race car. Nations Cup is about full on GT racing and nothing to do with production road cars except in silhouette form. There is not one car in the field that you can buy a road version of.

There is no doubt that the 7 litre Monaro is contraversial, however our surveys show that most of the opposition comes from "FORDOPHILES".
Be patient "FORDOPHILES" Their might be a pleasant surpise in the 2004 24 Hour in the form of a GT 40,which would also be eligible for the 2005 Nations Cup Championship"

So you see, you obviously are unaware that the Monaro was being built for Nations Cup racing BEFORE the HRT 427 was even announced as being built.

The Nations Cup Monaro was at the Sydney Motor Show last year, ready to race, when the HRT 427 was unvailed at the same time, and that was the first time anyone knew about it. So get your facts straight instead of whinging and crying like a baby.

I'd bet if you walked in there with a serious proposal and were capable of having a team to run one you could get one built. Show me the facts to prove otherwise.

As long as it was built to the same rules there is nothing to stop Ford from doing it. You can't whinge about Holden when they are the ones willing to put the effort and money into the sport.

Why don't all you die hard Ford supporters lobby Ford to build a Falcon GT equivelant of the Monaro instead of whinging and whining.

I personally think the effort put in by the GRM crew and drivers, to get two cars to run faultlessly for 24 hours is a credit to the ability of the people we have here in Australia. And it's a damn shame to take away from their success just because you happen to hate the badge on the winning cars.
Ego - is not a dirty word!
