Thank you for all the links.

Gianttomato, I have seen that pic before (there are a couple more on the site). I am led to believe that is actually a VH41, and not a 45. The 41 is rumoured to be a bit thinner... So imagine an even wider engine then that

That said, the body and associated bits come first. I might decide on a different engine later but that was the original thought.

Datto-Zed, there was some rust infront of the passenger seat, it was cut out. Biggest concern is under where the battery tray used to sit...

The pillars seem to be good.

The next stage (the rear of the car is almost sanded as far as I wish to sand) will be to find somebody who wants to help me with some welding.

Also to the other Zed restorers out there- want any interior bits? I wont have much use for most of the stuff from inside.

Yeps, battery tray is a problem and also the chassis rail underneath it.

              *Raises hand

Depends on how much of it you will still need. I need some bits like the end of the indicator stalk and aircon/fan plumbing, but you will probs still need that. Interior light? Shifter boot. All stuff you'll still want I suppose.

You can more then likely have the aircon/fan plumbing. I have no shifter boot, and I will need the interior light and the indicator stalk.

I have a 'Z' steering wheel, front and rear seats... console (but it's pretty shot), dash (see console), and all the guages in the dash... if I think of more i'll post it up.

Sockz, you know you're gonna be in for a lot of fun, HERE is a link to all the work I put into mine. Its a shitload of work but you'll love it at the end.

And do what edo says, MAKE the VH45 fit. If it doesn't have power steering or air conditioning, it will be a piece of cake. Thats why I decided not to do the project in my car, I wanted to keep both air con and P/S.

You know I'll hate you even more if you make the VH45DE fit :p

                    Way to plug FSM.com

P/S and A/C are not too big a deal to me. I currently drive a non P/S car, and always drive with the windows down...

                    :p

P/S is necessary. A/C is not.
<dan-> so just to clarify this.. your dad's defence against car theft is a swift piss on the face ?

Regarding the french cars, from what i've been able to deduce the wheel and hub are fitted together as blanks (no holes) then a man named jacques gets a drill press and drills between 2 and 7 holes in random locations, the hubs are then tapped (each hole with a different threadform to prevent the wrong bolt going into the wrong hole) and the wheel and hub are bolted together and then attached to the suspension. - Hotgemini

P/S is only neccessary if you're lazy or a puny little geek.

                                1) Chances are it will be a VH45 running the VH45 automatic box (bugger ) and standard ECU (another smaller bugger ). If somebody can suggest an aftermarket computer that will handle the VH45 gearbox I'd love to hear about it.

                                2) The colour, I have no idea. Make some more suggestions.

                                3) Can I get the car to pass a roadworthy/get it registered without the rear bumper? The rear end looks alot better with it off.

                                4) Short of going to QLD transport, where can I find the regulations for car interiors (eg... the rules within which I have to conform)?

                                Thanks for any answers.
