My reference was to flipping the bird. The finger. Giving them the mid-digit. Waving but forgetting to raise 4 of 5 fingers.

      Hmm,
I wonder if I should let people flame (pun intended) chris a little more before confirming that YES, there is a problem with Prado's with fuel leakage...

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vehicle Recall Search Results for TOYOTA Land Cruiser Prado (GRJ120)(1986 - 10/12/2003)
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem: Possible fuel leakage from fuel rail damper
      Make: TOYOTA
      Model: Land Cruiser Prado (GRJ120)
      Variant: V6 vehicles only
      Date Range: 29 October 2002 to 22 March 2003
      VIN Ranges: 00001005 to 00007122
      Status: Active
Defect: The pulsation damper on the end of the fuel rail on the engine may have an incorrectly assembled diaphragm. If this diaphragm fractures a fuel leak may occur.
Consequences: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source is a fire hazard.
Corrective action: Toyota dealers will replace the fuel pulsation damper.
      Notif. Date: 28/04/2003
      DOTARS No.: R03/036

Yep. But I knew it was going to get a few jokers on it. I was wondering what may have caused it. Probably something flamable on the exhaust manifold? Pity though.. it was a brand new Prado...

What bloody trailer!!?? The space dedicated for the trailer is suprisingly sparse and devoid of any trailer-like vehicles.

Yeah Southo.. go away with your intelligent mumbo-jumbo. There is no room for you here.

Now where is that nail with Toyota written on it?

Oh well, I guess that's what insurance is for, eh?

It also means the soccer mum driving will now receive a shiny new Prado, with none of the shopping trolley and adjacent-car-in-carpark denting the burnt one undoubtably had. :D

                        Oops, Sorry Paul....
                        My Bad..

I only know about this because we have lost one already - it was pre-recall so I think Toyota replaced that one for us

hopefully the one Chris saw was not our second.....

                          Hmm, just checked...

looks like The Prado is ready for that nail after all.....

The earlier models had a differerent fuel leakage problem.... but being that they are bought by people hardly going off road, this is not as much of a concern..

                          VIN Ranges: JT711VJ9500001026 to JT711VJ9500025456.
                          Status: Inactive
Defect: Vehicles on unsealed forest type roads may receive damage to the fuel tank solenoid valve port tubes from sticks or tree branches thrown up from the road surface. Model Code: VZJ95R.
Consequences: In the worst case, the tubes may break, allowing fuel to leak from the return line from the engine and/or fuel tanks, leading to a fire hazard.
Corrective action: Inspect the solenoid valve assembly and replace if necessary. Install an underbody protection cover below the solenoid.

Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
