But dude they dont say THIS CAR WILL GO FOR 250,000 yen. They say it MAY sell for between XXXXX- XXXXXX yen. Think about what would happen if they said ok heres a car i could get for you. What do you think would happen? Someone would call up and go, how much do YOU THINK i could pick up that car for. Either way they have to make a guesstimate, i dont see anything wrong with that...

I've received emails in the past with a final FOB price for the car, saying the car is in stock. I have then seen the same cars listed on the yahoo site still under auction. To me that is dodgy. I'm not saying they're all like this, but I have seen a few.

pretty much every site I've seen makes it fairly clear that the price they quote is an estimate.

Another couple of things - firstly, when cars go to auction, any buyer worth his/her salt will know how much they're prepared to put on it, to the nearest 10,000yen ($130 or so), so you can afford to be reasonably accurate with prices, even before the car is sold. Really good buyers also know how much their competition is prepared to pay for certain cars too...

It's also worth mentioning that most buyers in Japan are not allowed to carry stock - if they do, that then makes them a dealer and not a broker, and they are breaching Japanese trading laws...

You'll usually hear comments like "this car is avaliable from a dealer..."

Which just reinforces my opinion that some of these importers are a bit dodgy.

Shhhhh Kris, I swear it's my car but I'll sell it if someone wants to buy it . I hate them for that, I've never seen my mate keep a car for more then 2 months and now he's on a BNR33.
