Zac, and all the rest that brought up performance you're the dickheads (and if you disagree again, i'll ban your arses :D )

I never said anything about the performance (I actually consider myself a Williams supporter, however i don't like either of their current drivers )

I sitll think it looks damn weird - as someone else poined out - it looks like the mouth of a manta ray (i couldn't think of it at the time - it was 4 in the morning)

Oh, and Steyr, your point about F1 cars not meant to be good looking, then saying it's Formula One, not Forumula Rice... does that mean you think Rice looks good?? I think there goes your credibility :D

Anyway - my point was that most F1 cars have a certain elegance, and to someone that likes F1 (me), they are a good looking car (mostly i've been reminded of the Arrows cars with extra wings, even on the nose - that takes a higher position in the ugly F1 cars stakes)

However, every now and then a manufacturer comes out with something that is a bit of an eyesore (no matter how well it works - think of the plymouth with the huge-ass rear wing) and i think this front end is one of them.

Maybe F1 is going all fishy.. .with Ferrari with the shark fins, Jaguar steers like a whale and Williams with the Manta Ray front.

Maybe McLaren will have a Dolphin fin when they release their car :D

It's about time F1 made a significant jump in the direction of performance anyway. Since the early 90s they have only really been refining the package.

Actually most punters seem to have dubbed it the Walrus :D

Maybe designers were on the same gear as Lennon and McCartney.

Isn't BMW-Williams powered by HP? Looks like a printer to me..

Results which come from speed is what its all about. And speaking of that, Montoya just posted the fastest lap at Jerez in that exact car which was 1.2sec faster than Gene in last years car. (yes montoya is a better driver but not 1.2sec a lap)

But its still slower than the record set by the mclaren mp4-19 by david coulthard. Mclaren will win the championship i think (not being biased) but they have been working on this car for a long, long time. It will be very close either way.

Was this exactly last years car, or was it last year's aero package with this year's engine? If it is exactly last year's then dont discount improvements in the engine hp.

Not 100% sure, but if it's this years BMW motor then it just further compounds the fact that the new chassis is a killer. If the new car was way up in HP then maybe alot of that speed could be attributed to that. But that pace around jerez is worth around 50hp from memory, and no engine maker can get that much more power in one season...not even BMW.

I do know that illmor-mercedes are not chasing anymore power at this stage but more driveability and durability. The new rules as far as using a limited number of engines per weekend will really slow the progress in power output.

Those times are not really comparable to race times, as the car is not tuned to run a whole race...

No testing times on any track at any time are really comparable. You just don't know what they are testing for and they will never tell you!!
The only time it is significant is when the car breaks the all-time lap record as a benchmark
