Steve, how far you pursue this is up to you, but I would send a variation of Edo's letter, then get some real legal advice on the next step, rather than relying on some shonky real estate agent(ha!).

However, I suspect the publicity from this incident, and Chic's appalling letter, will be more powerful in covering the costs of the damage than any lawyer.

I am still speechless that Chic could compose a letter that is so damaging to him, so offensive to you, and actually send it. IMHO it significantly compromises his position on liability. FFS I can remember him running the same line about others letting him down in the 80's. It didnt wash then, and it doesnt wash now.

A mate of mine had been to every Summernats until 2003.
After that event he refused to ever go back until the booze problems were sorted out, and after reading what happened this year we dont think fixing these problems is going to be easy!

At the 2003 event Chic promoted it as a safe family event and so on, so my mate took the missus and young fella down there with the plan of going back to their accomodation before dark to avoid the drunken fuckwits....... but after the first day he left the event after they were constantly harassed, his wife groped through the window and the car damaged when she put the window up!
And this was in the middle of the day!

Ive never been to the Nats, but now a days everyone seems to have more negative comments about it rather than positives....... so they can shove the show up their arse!

why don't the licensing police show up there and bust them for every intoxicated person on the grounds? It would be a major ruckus, but if they lost their liquor license it would clean it up a bit.

The absolute worst is on the saturday late arvo/night. Walking around behind the back of the grandstand/bar area is just full of some of the most wasted people you will ever see, with fuck all respect given to entrants.

And your point of view changes even more once you have been an entrant. I was an entrant in 2003 and spent only 3-4 hrs a day at the Nats, the rest spent back at the motel or the pub down the road. And even though I wasn't an entrant this year (other mates cars were) we spent even less time in there this year.

Primarily the nats is Australia's biggest car show, not Australia's biggest piss festival, which it is almost turning into. If the event were alcohol free, poor old chic may lose a couple of thousand genuine pissheads, but the genuine enthusiasts would have a better event to attend.
