Good retained value for up to a 15 year old car though, probably won't drop much more value either. I'll have to try driving one someday & see if it makes me want to buy one.
$15k is a lot for such old cars....things like MR2s & CRXs of the same vintage are worth half as much...then again, a majority of MX5s are in pretty good nick for their age....and a surprising proportion are in really mint condition too.

Thought I'd bump this thread rather than creating one. Quick question- Would an import 89 model MX5 require PULP or is regular OK? I'm guessing PULP

EDIT- Oh, and how would it be as an every day car? They aren't too brittle, are they?

Head room is excellent when you take the roof off :p

I'm just under 6 foot and don't have a problem, I'd say try one out for head room.

Theres plenty of headroom, it is located fore of your chest and aft of the dashboard.
Don't worry, thats just the self-preservation instinct, in my experience you can safely ignore it.

Just to see what all the hype was about, i went and found myself a '90 model and test-drove it today...

Must say, they need a bit more power, but the chassis is really nice, handles pretty well. Bit cramped for my liking, oh, and did i mention they need a bit more power?

AzzurrA: under powered maybe. But that just makes it more fun when you pants the other guy with more power.... and if you don't you always have a legitimate excuse. :D

                          That's a bit of a personal question isn't it ??

I'm kind of getting interested in one of these things now - What's the best plan of attack ?? Buy a cheap early 90's one with high kms and just freshen the engine and whack a turbo on it ??

                          Cheers,
                          Paul...

Only problem with FI is you gotta run outright in most classes.

Best plan of attack may be gambling on an import - if you can pick one up for as cheap as I did (what was it? about $2.5k - $3k) - plenty of scope to do whatever the hell you want (plus the JDM versions seem to = 'club spec' in oz)

I miss the mx5 - beautiful little car.
