You're just guessing! This is a serious conversation.

Yes very serious. 4 different engines used in 4 different chassis. Im sure this thread is just filled with useful comparable data.

And it's probably just sheer coincidence that Mitsubishi owners objectively choose the Mitshubishi engine. And similar for Nissan owners etc etc.

Great comparsion. Very serious. Very useful.

Did Holden ever make a four cylinder?

If they did I reckon it would beat all this Jap crap.

Tony, a Vauxhall driver already voted for his own engine.

Holden apparently build/built a 4 cylinder engine for Daewoo, which is about 2.2L from memory.
                Back in bloody Perth again...

From a few engine builders I have spoken to, the FJ20DET is a very strong unit but it is heavy and getting a little old. I would put the Cosworth in the same category. Still my pics as the best though.

The 4G63 is a great engine, while the SR is a good engine (and thats coming from a Nissan nut).

Is there any site that has specs on the SR20VE? I reckon a SR20VE turbo would be quite cool - but only with a big turbo like a GT35R

Still wouldn't be as good as a F20C turbo...

                        Cheers,

                          F20C turbo pffft...

A B20B is much better to turbo then a F20C...points to the number of B20B turbo fitted in Civics running around Japan.

Personally I don't see the real point of a sr20ve+t when nissans have the sr20det already. I think the turbo would nullify most of the benefits of vtec wouldnt it? Sure off boost driving would be nice though. The VE runs 11:1 compression so it's not very boost friendly. Here are some breif stats (curtousy of www.sr20forums.com):

There are five (5) VE motors.
                            SR16VE - 173hp 5 speed Manual 97-2001
                            SR16VE N1 - 197hp 5 speed Manual 97-98
                            SR20VE - 187hp CVT 6 speed Auto 97-2001
                            SR20VE - 204hp 6 speed Manual 2001-Present
                            SR20VET - 276hp AWD Turbo 2002-Present

How much power does the VE have?
                            SR16VE - 173hp @ 7800rpm / 119lb torque @ 7200rpm
                            SR16VE N1 - 197hp @ 7800rpm / 134lb torque @ 7600rpm
                            SR20VE - 187hp @ 7000rpm / 145lb torque @ 6000rpm
                            SR20VET - 276hp @ 6400rpm / 228lb torque @ 3200rpm

                                So have Ford.

Kent series from 1960's which is now in the Ka.

The GM Family 2 isn't a bad motor being in Korean cars, trucks and the old N13 Pulsar.
