        Forget these timewasters.......

        All I need is -

        1xlarge paint brush/roller - $10-20.
1x4 litre tin of Wattyl Solaguard.

Oh hang on you said you had the paint didn't you......well that will just be $20 for the brush plus labour so.............let's call it $3k. :D

I have spent $4k so far which has included:

                cutting out rust
                replacement panel fabrication and welding.
chassis rail extension fabrication and welding.
sand blasting to bare metal on a rotisserie top, bottom, inside out.
coated in 2 part epoxy primer
underneath and interior floor pan stoneguarded
engine bay and interior painted in 2 pack glasurit colour.

I stripped the car to a rolling shell myself and will re-assemble it myself, so not included it that cost.

All the cars I have owned have come with paint already on them.

That's about what I spent on my last one, more hours spent fixing the body though , & doesn't include cost of equipment (purchased previously) it was in acrylic laquer done at home so it's not quite be to show standards, but it will buff up pretty well. Price difference compared to a pro job gives an idea of labour involved.

                      My respray was $1,700

The panel beating, getting it to bare metal then primer, roughly $4-5,000.

Having another panel beater asking for contact details as he thinks it is an excellent job - Priceless :D

Nothing - got screwed over last time my car was getting worked on at a panelbeaters so im just letting the doors rust and the paint get worse and driving the bloody thing instead.

yeah.. i think most are tired of getting ripped by paint and panel shops. Some are good, but others

If you don't have "mates rates" or un-naturally lucky you are basically stuffed.

Most shops are so used to cashing in from insurers they couldn't care less about the bloke who wants to pay their own cold cash to get it done

The reason alot of shops, including where i work, cant be farked doing these kinda jobs as it takes up too much time and space in the shop. Thats why we rarely do private work.
