That'd be a front swap from a VL then. What was it sold as in aus though?

All cars posted in this thread must be factory produced. Thus should I give Chris5Ltr a week's holiday.

Hang on, from what I understand this is how it was released from the factory,I never said it has had a front end conversion.

The black and white pic's I posted up are from the same model car but different year, again to my understanding.
That’s what had the SC forum member’s stuned that it was all factory .
The bloke who took the photos said there no way they could have just bolted a VL front on it, it’s a different shape so they wouldn't fit at all if they were from a VL.
One week holiday? lol I don't really come here that often.

          :p

That definantly aint a datsun front end. It'd bet it's a conversion. Unless holden copied the VL stying from a datsun?

Maybe they took the datto engine and the styling while they were at it. :D

Well this bloke is 100% it's not a conversion,so as far as I'm concerned it's factory.
Hey it gives us more fuel to give the VL boys some stick..:haha you have a datto front on your nissan powered Commodore"LOL:p

Conversion for sure no matter what this guys says. They are VL lights, bumper, quarter panels and bonnet. None of that is anything like the C31 items. Certainly makes it look more modern though.

How's a NSX with a VG30DET . You could put a question mark over where Honda got their NSX design.

The MID4 - a midship 4WD with an FRP body appeared at the '85 Frankfurt and Tokyo Motor Show with a 230ps VG30DE. Two years later the MID4-II was displayed with a VG30DETT 330ps version at the '87 Tokyo Motor. The MID4 was expected to go on sale but Nissan pulled the plug at the last minute and unfortunately she got shelved. But all was not wasted, the R&D of the suspension, 4WD system and engine including twin turbo setup was all used later in the BNR32 and Z32. Would have been a nice car I reckon.

                          I wouldn't go that far.

The MID4 looks like a BMW M1 or whatever copy - so 1970's.

At best you would say the NSX is a 90's design - a quantum design update (70's -> '90's).

Tony you have to admit the immediate front of the car shares some similarities with NSX. Look closely and cover the back half of the car with your hand.

                              You're right there.

It depends on 'what you see'.

I'm a typical 'rear end, legs, backdoor' guy who notices tail lights, rear quarters, rear windows, boot lids, wings.

To me, noses are interchangeable. You cannot really change quarters.

In that way you can see how the MID4 is such an antiquated design while the NSX is a modern mid engined supercar.
