    Actually I was close - I said Nissan 300C, and it was a Datsun.

    There's every possiblity that that combination was sold somewhere like South Africa, or another country such as Malaysia or SE Asia.

    In poorer countries, grafting a new nose on to an existing car is a more cost effective way of "updating" a car without increasing costs.

    It wouldn't surprise me if the VL nose idea for the Laurel was tied up with the deal for Nissan supplying the RB30s for the VL in Oz. BTW, the VL was also sold with the RB20 in NZ.

    Antother supercar to guess...

          yeah well as if I'd let you guess it that easily!! lol

          Troy - it's European, and not from a manufacturer you'd normally associate with building cars (they do build very ugly cars, but they're not sold here)

                  It's A Tatra MTX (Metalex) Supersport V8

                  <snip>
                  In the early 1990s Czech designer Vaclav Kral started work on a sportscar, the MTX (Metalex) Supersport V8 equipped with an air-cooled mid-mounted V8-engine from the Tatra T613. He chose this engine to pay tribute to the great Tatra tradition and show that the Czech people can still design and build incredible pieces of engineering. The 4000 cc 300 HP engine is of the type T624 used in the Tatra T624 fast ambulance of the NAREX racing team. The Tatra-engine, mounted on top of the rear axle, gives the MTX Supersport V8 a top speed of 270 km/h.

                  With the introduction of the Tatra T700 passenger car, equipped with a 3500 cc air-cooled V8-engine, Tatra also builds sportsversions of this car with a special body and a tuned engine. The Czech Ecorra company in Koprivnice also uses the Tatra T700 engine for their sportscars, such as the racing car that broke the Czech landspeed record a few years back.
                  </snip>

                        The need to get around the concept of building just plain 'cars' rather than a 'super' one.

                        Baby steps :D

                        Mmmm... aircooled v8... makes all kinds of weird can'tbelieveit'sav8poweredvolkwagen type noises!
