these guys aren't exactly the cream of the crop. quite the opposite in fact. Diagnosed one of my broken down company cars as having a shagged ecu, therefore no spark. (he was poking around pulling plug leads off and using test light for about 10mins)
Get it towed to a mechanic, the car has spark coming out the yin yang, but no fuel.
    idiot.

they wouldnt be driving around jump starting cars if they were any good.
Things I have that are NOT For Sale 4 x 550cc top feed injectors. Top feed RB25DET fuel rail.

I had problems with my CAS (as all VL's do from time to time) and the car wouldnt start (would crank but not start). RACQ come along - by this stage the car decided it would start - had it idling when he arrived - RACQ opens the bonnet - shuts the car off, within 10 seconds has done an oil check with the dipstick and told me "the car wouldnt start as there is only 1/2 the amount of oil there should be in there - it'll cost you $15 a Litre of oil and I cant let you go with no oil or it'll be on my head if you break down cause of no oil". I told him to go f himself. Since then - I have no respect for RACQ and would only have the cover for a jump start or a tow - useless otherwise.
          :D

So is the problem now solved mate? As I said to you on the phone the best approach is to be fully informed and armed with all of the information and go at it being as nice as you can....often the ultimate decision comes down to one person who if you are nice too is often more willing to assist........at the end of the day I dont think a company such as RACQ would be 'frightened' by the thought of litigation as I imagine they go through it all day every day on matters ranging from small to large and are well insured themselves for situations where their employees are negligent should that have been the case.

Quite often the threat of legal action will not get you anywhere though as with all 'memberships' there are a number of waivers and disclaimers you would have to sign before being allowed to join. RACQ pay their lawyers quite a bit of money to get these things water tight so that your nose has to be 100% squeaky clean and they grossly negligent in order for you to get them to pay for any damage..............which I think is fair enough with the number of people out there that are making fraudulent claims left right and centre (in no way implying that your claim is anything other than honest but I dont need to tell you this).

So from the other side of the fence my ultimate suggestion (in no way providing advice that you should rely on) would be dont go in and rant and say 'I will sue you this and take you to court that' without first being 100% armed with the information you are going to need......be nice about it and explain in a logical fashion how you came to the conclusion that Company XYZ is required to cop the cost of any damage and not only can they not argue back with you but they also can not at a later stage say that you frustrated the process by yelling and screaming.........

Anyway I am sure I will get flamed for the above but just my 2c
                Life begins at 5600............

In your battles with the RACQ, remind them they should have checked the short with a multimeter first before considering connecting terminals with wire. This is straight out negligence.

The funny thing is that working in a call centre myself I wish this was the way customers would deal with me when they have an issue, and I'm normally more likly to help if someone is friendly about it.
However in my personal experiances being nice and friendly doesn't really get you any where with most people.
screaming, shouting, spitting the dummy and threating to sue are more likly to get you what you want because most phone reps are lazy and don't want to fight you on it.
I wish it wasn't true but to be honest If I get stuffed around nowdays I don't bother being nice. I just want the supervisor and NOW>

So what did the auto elec find was the original cause of the fault, and what exactly was damaged by the RACQ dude hard wiring the fuse? Oh yeah and if it comes to it, I think Mic still has most of the loom from the parts Z32.
