before i learned of bleeds, we used to up the boost by SHORTENING the rod

my old 550cc 3cyl suzuki was running 7 psi, we BENT the rod ( effecively shortening it ) and got 12 psi

same goes with a mates n12 exa about 10 years ago

Shortening or bending the rod only limits the amount of exhaust gasses being wasted....thus spooling up the turbo more.
You would achieve the same result pneumatically with a bleed valve tee'd off the wastegate actuator diaphram.

                  Actuator

Thanks for all the replies regarding the Actuator Rod.
I guess I wont stuff around with it and just use a Bleeder.

                  Thanks again.

ive got the exact same turbo as that, as good conidition to only 23,000km. Its goin on my N13 Pulsar. My Inlet Flange on the Turbo looks different though. Did you have yours Changed? Looks like a T2 or T3 flange. And that collector looks a bit big man. Also another couple of questions, What is the Hose coming of the Wastegate Actuator For and Which Holes are for the Turbo Pressure and Relief? Thanks mate
                    '87 N13 Pulsar.....soon to be booosted!

                      turbo

                      Hey ssstylin n13,

I'm using the standard Forester GT Base plate and Dump.
I have welded the Base plate to my existing manifold.
Yes the collector is Big,It was the easiest way (at the time) to make a manifold, also as my old turbo had a square base plate it was easier that way.Maybe oneday I'll make a new one.
The hose you see is the Vaccume hose to the actuater, this sents vaccume pressure to the actuater to measure the boost.

                      Hope this helps.

I think your collector device is going to let you down, poor low end spooling and maybe dog response from the turbo generally.

I am keen to see if I am wrong.

Otherwise good initiative, but would prefer to see you getting a great result straight up :-)
