I sent ABC's Media Watch the following letter:
Hi, I would like to let you know that after copping an amazing display of
infantile abuse
from Harold Scruby for doing no more than asking to discuss his road safety
policies, I
have started an action group to combat this man and try to bring the focus back
onto
road safety. Myself and many others find his conduct amazing for the CEO of a
safety
council!

More amazing is the amount of media attention he seems to be able to get with
ease,
to float what appears to be ill-concieved ideas on road safety, that in reality
are nothing
more than a personal vendetta against road users, young drivers in particular.

A look at the PCA web site appears useful at first, but reading through the media
release page reveals 90% of the articles have zero reference or relevance to
pedestrians, and displays his hatred of motor vehicles and drivers.

To find that PCA is supported by government agencies as well makes me very
dissapointed when receiving rather personal abuse from this man, who flatly
refuses to
discuss his policies or approaches. He is far more concerned with spelling and
grammar than safety it seems.

Can Media Watch help me to understand how such as he can effortlessly gain such
attention from the media, with apparently no right to reply?

I will include some examples of his responses that myself and others have
received.

When you get up and running, my suggestion is to start another thread asking for the expertise of someone in the particular field you require.
I'm sure our PF members would cover the majority of professions/trades available, so shouldnt be too difficult I imagine.

Just trying to think how I could help and only thing that comes to mind right now is web-design / graphics... if youve got the website part covered thats cool, but any graphical input, perhaps designing a logo or bumper stickers? etc etc Im your man!.

Just thinking abit.

Obviously you need to appear both professional (IE good website).. but not only that, but make sure the organisation is active... a membership & forum are definately needed (perhaps linked to PF) to show people like mr scooby that the people are effected by his actions and we wont stand for it. IE 10,000 members/forum users is a powerful number. Membership numbers will make ADG stand out as the real deal and not just another website by a 'revhead' who doesnt like speed cameras (which is cool but people who oppose it dont care and wont take notice)

Yep I'm in too Jim. I can probably do research or writing, been a while since I got involved in anything fun like this.

I like the idea of coordinating the states. Once we have stuff set up, then we can organise to publicise the existence of the group and so on. Let me know what needs to be done, I'd be willing to help with a) and c) and also, b) if a country-wide 'event everwhere on the same day' type thing was organised.
