Yea. I have it booked in for the 30th (soonest they can see it) and will have the normal courtesy inspection done at the same time. They were aware of the software update anyway. Went on a 225km trip with it today and no issues which was good. Drove non stop for 3 hours up to Maleny and back, lots of twisties and my back was fine for the whole trip where as I normally would have a sore arse / back at that point from many seats. I even saw another black GR through the twisties!

                .....
anyway keen to hear others thoughts.
I was contemplating getting a 996/997 911 or an Evora for the 2+2 seating, but with Covid the options got a little reduced and more $. So in came the GR yaris option. The GR has similar performance specs to the 996 and non-S Evora.

I've come from a background of small slow cars, with the possible exception of an S1 elise which felt fast back in the day. My current (pre-GR) cars are a Mk7.5 golf trendline (the inner city work car, but with manual cause still wanted some involvement) and a '67 Porsche 912 (the car with 'character' and slow progress). In the 912 I've got use to driving foot to the floor and trying to hang on round corners to keep the speed up - like driving an mx5 but without the handling finesse. But in the GR (red, because no one wants them) it rockets corner to corner around the SEQ hinterland and certainly requires a recalibration of my brain.

I did a basic porsche driving day at Mt Cotton a couple of months back (911, cayman, boxster (I think), panamera, macan) and the GR reminds me of the performance of cayman/boxster with my VW golf type interior, and a squint at my 912. The 911/panamera were a bit more slam you in the seat than the GR as I recall. The porsches were all auto.

I find the GR more comfortable to drive than my golf wrt the seating (I'm 6'2") - perhaps more under thigh support compared to the low seat in my golf. But laughed when I hopped back in the golf and realised the clutch was so light I had to conscientiously lift my foot instead of letting the GR's heavier clutch do the lifting/pushing. The GR clutch is still light enough though. The golf is much quieter at highway speeds but I dont think I'll care about that since Im mainly Brisbane and SEQ hinterland. Audio quality in the GR is better than the golf and the infotainment seems pretty similar on both - carplay etc.

I'm sure the GR is going to guzzle fuel (perhaps 8-12 l/100kms) compared to the golf (5-8 l/100kms) no matter how politely i drive, but I'm ok with that.

So far, the GR has been fantastic - quick, easy, corners. I even enjoy the fake sound in the car combined with the polite external sound (the 912 makes enough noise for the neighborhood) and my 5 year old loves it (cause red)

                Thumbs up from me.

Have a potential delivery date now. 15th Feb. Feeling much better about it all. Better try and sell the Corolla now! Anyone need a cheap, reliable station car??

I was given the same date a week or two ago.

                      Hope it's correct.

No understeer issues on the pan?
Plenty of understeer if you don't use enough right foot, otherwise skids for days. You will have plenty of fun.
I think the safe mode could only be from over boost, it was a pretty hot day. The guys were talking about a update to fix it at the first service?

It is a shame to read that some of you have had your delivery dates moved around, but considering you have also saved $10k on the car, I think you're still winning. After 130-odd pages, I am truly jealous. I have my reasons not to get in one though (related to the wealth thread). Am yet to see one in the flesh but am looking forward to that.
Anyone know what the sales are like for Toyota since they reverted back to standard pricing?
