Best engine? (whilst the thread is up I'll use it....)

      Rolls Royce RB211.

We had to take the 747 out to the runbay at Mascot and test it as we had stripped the engine as part of the D-check on the aircraft.

I was sitting in the Hilux in front of the aircraft whilst the leading hand was runnng the thottle. When he gassed it right up it felt like the world was coming to an end.

The other best engine is the RR Olympus(correct?) Concorde (RIP). One afternoon at work went across to the international terminal and watched Concorde take off from Mascot. The pilot lit the afterburners (a no-no at sydney due to noise restrictions) about 1km down the strip-and I have never heard a more psychotic and ungodly noise in my life. It shook my bones. Awesome......

I'll have to politely disagree with you there. Oxy's mum is by far the best bang for free.

unsure of obtainability in AUS, but the new version of ^^^^
The VK56DE, used by nissan in their latest pickup and and madefor/exported to US. not sure if any of the yanks are building up hypo versions, but with some form of FI id say it could meet a number or all of the afformentioned criteria quite well...

                And then some :D
But i doubt we will ever see the VK56 here in aus unless they are in JDM nissans.
Apparently the 4.5 VH/VK can be bored & stroked to just on 6.0L too.

Why not? There's plenty of ex-USA engine and parts importers, I'm sure it could be easily arranged.

Surely would have to be a cool conversion for a Z-car....
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, and from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip-malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moments lost in time; gone like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die.

                    LIAR!

My flat mate used to have a meteor and it had a 1.5 litre carby engine
although it probably did handly somewhat like a tank...
