I believe that we in Australia were one of the very few markets to get the more powerful 150 BHP version (twin Mikuni Solexes I think) of the 2000 instead of the standard 140 BHP version with Hitachi SU's that the Americans got.

Paydirt, thanks for that...roastbeef had already pointed it out though. Its in WA...which is a PITA.
Banzai, So the coupe was only a 1600? No 2 litres? Perhaps a 2 litre OHC fairlady would be better. Thinking from the point of view of a tarmac rally car...I dont like the no roof idea but I think Ive seen a hardtop on one.
Stupid question but what would be the chances of finding an R380?
OK so Ive just searched R380...& the question is stupider than I imagined...
What other early dattos or even toyotas were a bit special. Anything with over 2 litres...actually, is the Silvia 1600 block distinguishable from the 2 litre externally?
Errm, no...what about an early GT-R...are bits avaliable to build a replica?
KPCG10 or KPCG110.
Even replicas are very expensive given the fact that the Japanese don't want to let them go.

edo - at the end of the silvias life dealers were putting in the 2.0 from the fairlady to help shift them so for all intents they were sold with a 2.0 from the factory. How many do you need for it to qualify? If it's 5 you should be right, if 50 you'll obviously be stuffed.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to head out and go for a hoon in Banzai's fairlady
If anyone is interested a mate has got his 1968 Datsun Laurel for sale. It is like a 1600 just bigger with a 1.8l crossflow motor in it. www.datrats.com
